So these expansive backgrounds are really challenging. I wish I could draw them to be more ostentatious, but the society that was conquered were more martial than decadent. This isn't Louis XIV Palace of Versailles. This is just rich enough to not embarrass the nation in front of diplomats.

The dialog when I first published these pages didn't sing to me. It didn't have the same weight and the black speech bubbles shows that the Prisoner wanted to be seen as a god-like figure. So this part of the comic is about defining the villains. They have to be shown as evil so if anything bad happens to them, it feels like karma and justified schadenfreude.

So. Color has been really fun! I'm really happy with how these are coming out.
After the dream sequence is over I'll start pulling out of full colors soon and go to a more Sin City approach to color to emphasize magic as a narrative device. I plan on going 100% full color with Book 2 in about 60+ pages later when the plot progresses.
