The pattern I'm seeing from all these fictions are a cry out that they want to be special. The protagonists want the freedom to do whatever they want. They want an unfair advantage against a less developed world. To be overpowered...

Let's not forget these types of fiction tend to have copious amounts of sex.
After several lifetimes like this, my theory is that these people will start to see others who don't reincarnate as a lesser kind of people. If they think of them as people at all.
