The longest video to date, this was a monumental effort but also fun and rewarding. Three segments: the Bladerunner bit, Explaining the processor scaling wall that the G5 was supposed to overcome, and The life history of an average G5 tower in 45 seconds, took the most time. This video isn't just looking at one model in a series, it's looking at...

As an experiment, I asked Google AI who "65scribe" was. It came back with a surprisingly accurate (and flattering) description. Surprisingly, it's a little different each time. What I got on the iPhone was slightly different than what I got on the Mac... and less accurate.
The fourth and final instalment of The Denfield Hoard is a look at Bungie's Marathon, starting with the Marathon Demo. After not being able to find a Marathon angle that has not been done to death on YouTube, I turn my frustration to The Act Man and the misinformation he spreads about the influences for Halo. The Denfield Hoard comes back into f...

This video announces the discovery of another local hoard of computers, making the "Denfield" title almost meaningless except for some magazines, CD-ROM caddies and software. It continues the Powerbook 500 series coverage with a Powerbook 540c found in the new hoard. Subtle Indiana Jones references continue from Part 2....

The Powerbook 520 video is also The Denfield Hoard 2, is also my Marchintosh 2022 submission.
You're confusing me.
Mac laptops were not something that I was deeply invested in. I bought an iBook G4 for editing on-the-go in 2004. The unboxing video was so bad that I didn't bother po...

Originally a Patreon exclusive, I talk about items that I saw in a local hoard that included Apple dealer stuff. I will admit, I would have bought more if I had this Patreon going when I visited. But regret is best left behind - just enjoy what you have.
This episode focuses on Macintosh accessories I found there, including third party dev...

This video aimed to explore my favourite release of the iMac line: The original slot load (SL) iMacs. At the time, my parents were very much in need of a new Mac... I was counting on Apple to deliver at the October 1999 show... and they blew-away my expectations. Even releasing something very important for me as a 'Videographer': iMovie.

This all started with Ron McAdams of Ron's Computer Videos sending me an e-mail in February 2021 asking me to participate in a new concept called "MARCHintosh". After just releasing the 8100 video at the end of February, I had to scramble to pull together this video in a month (but that's half the fun of Marchintosh). I got it done just under th...

The computer I lusted for since 1994 was finally mine, and it was even the 100 MHz AV version! Though non-functional, I built an entire video around it anyway because I was so excited about having one. I was more interested in fixing Wikipedia and getting rid of this 'Mandela Effect' making people believe there was an AV version of the 8100/110....

March 2020, as I was finishing up this video, the COVID-19 pandemic had spread to Canada. In my day job, I was an 'essential worker', but many others were not so fortunate. By April, when I released this video, people were home-stuck and starved for entertainment. As a result, this video gave my channel the largest bump ever, and I would pass 5,...

I finally created a "Collection" for all my Macintosh YouTube videos. Supporting members can now more easily watch them through Patreon.
Next in the series, I put this particular (and peculiar) video out for a few reasons:
Unfortunately, due to complications with my wife's foot surgery (which seems ok now), I was not able to make the voyage to VCF Midwest this year. In the spirit of the VCF, I did pick up a couple computers locally, which I will cover shortly. In the meantime, I watched the YouTuber panel Q&A, and, as with last year, offer my own answers to th...

If I were in your shoes, I would be concerned about the time that has passed since my last upload, which does require explanation. I am working toward a change in life which will give me more time for video projects... Not that I've stopped! The new video is timing out to about an hour, the same as the G5 video. A member, Andre, reported finding some old Mac AV computers from the pre-G3 to G4 era. For example, an older G4 had a handful of video-production PCI cards that he had trouble finding information about. - "It did include a custom serial-port replacement for the RJ45 Modem, and a custom intrusion detection module. - Fancy stuff that someone in yo...

Once again, after 43 years, the Commodore PET Model 4016 graces the dining room table of my childhood home! When all hope seemed lost, this happened to come up for sale, and, although it was a significant distance away, it had a reasonable price. Any collector will be familiar with the 'travel distance' factor of the game. I quickly put a deposi...

The most exciting thing Bungie could do with Marathon 30 years later is returning to this part of the story for the sake of nostalgia and expanding the lore. The Cinematic Short gave us an amazing rendering of the 12km wide Marathon colony ship in orbit of Tau Ceti IV.

I've always annoyed my wife by saying "mac." every time I see one on TV or in a movie, but this two second clip from a commercial for Tangerine banking services last night threw me for a loop. Serendipitous to see this after my last post. Sure they digitally removed the labels and brightness control from the backside to make it look more bland a...

Most anyone who is 50 or older will clearly remember the first time that they touched a computer. Feel free to comment on your first memory if you are in that age bracket. For me it was the Commodore PET 4016 in 1982 thanks to the public education system. A truly amazing experience!

In researching pre-Macintosh personal computers, you can't help but learn a lot about the Atari 400 and 800. I passed on my first opportunity to get an 800, so when this came up I was more decisive. So far I've opened the cartridge cover ... realized there's two cartridge slots under there... how did I not know that? It goes back to what I've s...

So I have two StyleWriter 1200's that I haven't done much with since I got them except sit on top of two 13" AppleColor High Resolution RGB Monitors. Somehow the cat knocked a 30-pound plank of hardwood off a shelf above and obliterated the StyleWriters! They look like SpaceX hit them.
Upon closer inspection, there was not one piece of cra...

My input aside, iiiDIY offers great insights into how to properly restore and enhance these classic Mac computers.<...
