2016-04-30 18:57:46 +0000 UTC View PostAnd here it is, the final product!
If you click back and forth between this final page and the one previous, you'll notice some subtle differences - I've added the moonbeam and the obvious word balloons, but generally I've left it more or less untouched. Yoko uses a program called Clip Paint Studio that doesn't play nicely with Photosho...
2016-04-29 16:26:50 +0000 UTC View PostA couple days later I'll get an email from Yoko that says "Hey, the page is done and in the drive!" Sometimes there are additional notes like why she made some of the creative decisions that she did, or just some questions about the final product and how it looks.
I hop over to google drive and bask in the glory of the finished product ...
2016-04-26 17:05:30 +0000 UTC View PostJust finished and dropped these pages into the Drive for Yoko to color. YAHOO
I want to try to get two more pages done before the chapter starts on Thursday. Wish me luck!

2016-04-24 23:37:50 +0000 UTC View PostI got some new pens recently that I've been experimenting with. I'm really liking how they turn out, but at the same time I go a little crazy with the shading. Not that it's a bad thing, though.

Here's something exciting!
I just made an official Daughter of the Lilies email account! You can now contact the creative team (Nytrinhia and myself) via DAUGHTERoftheLILIES@gmail.com!
Additionally, the Patreon page has been updated to reflect our status as a creative team on the comic, rather just me, myself,...

Added necessary highlights and dropped some reds over everything because it was looking far too bright and cheerful! I wish I was better at painting!
But hey, at least more emphasis is on the teeth here - I'm just trying to make it look a little more intense, given how much fighting there's going to be.<...
2016-04-22 17:51:36 +0000 UTC View PostHere's the finished version (complete with notes) that I send off to Nytrinhia!
You could probably click back and forth between this image and the last one to try and spot all the fixes that I made, if you're bored.
Nitrinhia's a crazy talented artist, and it's always a really bad idea to micromanage a creative person in their craft. So...

I have an older Epson Expressions XL Scanner that can easily grab the entire sheet of Tabloid paper in one go. It's pretty awesome, and the best part is that I got it dirt cheap at a yard sale several years ago. It weighs about a thousand pounds but it's beautiful and I love it.
Anyway, I use the default "Image Capture" s...

2. Ask yourself if it can be summed up in one panel/4 words.
3. Draw that panel.
4. Hope it won't disappoint readers.

2016-04-18 19:44:01 +0000 UTC View PostI was curious to see how that profile shot I just posted of Orrig would look from the front, so I did a quick turnaround. I think I really like it!
2016-04-18 18:22:11 +0000 UTC View PostI swear, Book 2 is going to have the GREATEST model sheets and the characters are going to be most CONSISTENT looking m-effers out there.
2016-04-18 18:02:40 +0000 UTC View PostJust went through the "Master-Script" file and dropped every page into its own PSD.
augh geez look at all this work we have to do
This is by no means the final page count - there are about 2 or 3 big fight scenes and they're all a big mess that need to be tied down a lot more, which might affect the final page count.

But, before I put it on the scanner, I'll turn the paper over and walk away from it for a couple hours, just to give myself some distance. When I come back, all of a sudden I'm seeing all these little things that need to be fixed.
In panel 3, I'm noticing that chair and the figure are too small and it makes the perspecti...

I've printed out the rough sketch you saw on Step 2 onto 11 x 17 in paper (which is called Tabloid Paper). While I was at the print shop, I bought a big ream of blank Tabloid Paper and took everything home to my drafting table and light pad.
I tape one of the blank pieces of 11x17 over the printed sketch of my page, tu...
