Magical Shield (37)

Requirements: N/A

Magical Shield allows the host to encircle their body with a mana-based shield that blocks incoming magical damage. Further ranks increase the damage the shield can absorb.

Physical Shield (37)

Requirements: N/A

Physical Shield allows the host to encircle their body with a mana-based shield that blocks incoming non-magical damage. Further ranks increase the damage the shield can absorb.

-Second Tier-

Rebound (1)

Requirements: Magical Shield (15)

Rebound allows the host to use a burst of their own mana to rebound some of the magical damage back at the initial source. Further ranks allow more of the magical damage to be returned.

Extend Shield (31)

Requirements: Magical Shield (25)

Extend Shield allows the host to increase the shield at a heightened mana cost for every cubic foot. Further ranks allow for a larger shield.

Absorb (31)

Requirements: Physical Shield (15)

Absorb allows the host to channel some of the damage back into their own core. Further ranks allow for more mana to be captured from the damage.

Environmental Shield (31)

Requirements: Physical Shield (15)

Environmental Shield allows the host to more efficiently block out damage from the environment around them. Further ranks allow the host to block more damage.

Weapon Shield (1)

Requirements: Physical Shield (25)

Weapon Shield allows the host to defend from an opponent’s direct non-magical assaults. Each rank spent on this skill adds a new weapon type the shield specializes in blocking.

-Third Tier-

Heat Shield (25)

Requirements: Environmental Shield (30)

Heat Shield allows the host to block the effects of extreme heat. Further ranks increase the temperature that the shield can handle.

Cold Shield (1)

Requirements: Environmental Shield (15)

Cold Shield allows the host to block the effects of extreme cold. Further ranks decrease the temperature that the shield can handle.

Shield Target (25)

Requirements: Extend Shield (25)

Shield Target allows the host to place a shield around a target; the distance to the target increases the mana cost of the placement. Otherwise, it functions the same as a basic Physical or Magical Shield of the host’s ranks. Further, ranks decrease the range cost.

Weapon Force Absorption (25)

Requirements: Magical Shield (25) Absorb (15) Weapon Shield (1)

Weapon Force Absorption allows the host to apply all unlocked Weapon Shield types to the Absorb. Further ranks allow for more mana to be captured from the damage.

-Fourth Tier-

Shield Reinforcement (1)

Requirements: Magical Shield (35) Physical Shield (35) Environmental Shield (30) Weapon Force Absorption (15)

Shield Reinforcement allows the host to expend extra mana to reinforce shield strengths. Further ranks allow for greater reinforcement.

Shield Regeneration (1)

Requirements: Magical Shield (35) Physical Shield (35) Environmental Shield (30) Weapon Force Absorption (15)

Shield Regeneration allows the host to expend mana to link shields to their mana flow, allowing them to regenerate over time. Further ranks decrease the ambient mana draw.

-Fifth Tier-

Shield Transference (1)

Requirements: Shield Target (25)

Shield Transference allows the host to apply any shield specializations to those placed around remote targets. This drastically increases the mana cost of creating those shields. Further ranks reduce the mana cost.

Soul Shield (1)

Requirements: Magical Shield (35) Physical Shield (35) Environmental Shield (30) Weapon Force Absorption (15) Soul Mana Reservoir

Soul Shield allows the host to replace at an increased cost or supplement at the same rate any mana used in shield creation or maintenance, doing so greatly strengthens the shield against any non-soul-based attacks. Further ranks decrease the soul mana costs.

Comments

for absorb, does it make a difference what powers the physical weapon being used? and can it generate more mana than it costs to maintain the shield via shield regeration? Seems like converting mechanical energy into mana would be useful, and possibly why while being relatively common, shield orbs wouldn't be used as often in the Spiral, besides being more of a support role, factions may see more valuable uses for them
