Empress of Thieves - Thournmounte Print

(Actual print has a little less empty space, bleeds left in in the preview file~)

Gosh, what an ordeal this one became. I had sketched out a number of ideas for a new print, considering I haven't made a lot of (specifically non-comic) kinda print/pinup art for Empress of Thieves yet. Most of those ideas kind of alluded towards events and themes that haven't happened and/or won't happen for a good number of issues, so I stuck with an idea a little more rococo-ish? Gettin' an idea for what the poses would be took a bit of a deep dive into fashion covers and whatnot, but whittled down to something like this:

Okay, Yakone and Otieno are kind of vogue inspired here. Thumble is just a free spirit. A good boy.

The background STUFF THOUGHH?! At first I thought I could mock it up in clip studio, but honestly, drawing circles on a tablet is KIND OF AWFUL. I had to cut back drawing it out traditionally with a design pen.

Turned out a little thicker than I'd like but oof. Learning for the next time I suppose. Unfortunately, this design was a little shorter than I needed, so I had to edit it to be taller.

I did some touchups in photoshop after finishing the rest of it, but while trying to save them the program hecked up and ate the file. Afraid I was gonna brick my computer for a bit, but lucky I guess it only nerfed the psd. Luckily, I had saved a jpg while I was working on it in Clip Studio... So I can't really change this print much in the future... ah well.

Sorry if this blog part was kind of a slog!

Hope y'all enjoy this arts though!

I had to touch-up some of the more circular parts in PS, so it wasn't perfect, but easier yeah! Thank ya for these kind worddssssssss BITZY! :D

Thank ya Armando!! :D

Stunning work! I really appreciate this peek into your process too! Interesting to hear you went to a traditional pen to draw circles. Also, using fashion magazines for pose ideas is really smart! I love, love, love the lighting you did here! All the soft shading and color mixing on the background frame gives it so much life! I know if I had wanted to do something similar, I would've been very stuck on that background - either making it look way too stiff with just flat shading or no shading at all.

I love the details!
