For years people have been recommending I try Blender. For years I said "no", then I said "maybe" until eventually I said "fine, when I have time".
I never had time so it took me a few more years to realize I should make the time. Recently I made that time and it turns out those aforementioned people (who have been very nice in not saying "I told you so") were right, Blender is pretty awesome.
It wasn't easy making the switch, which is why I never got far during previous attempts, but going forward I will be doing all my modeling in Blender and after, rigging and animation once I learn how to do that. I still have a long way to go, but I can't tell you how much easier and logical Blender is to work with.

It isn't much to look at for now, but I am building all the assets for my next animation in Blender, while still animating in Maya, that way I can make progress in both.
