Concept art for the year

I drew this in a hurry, so it may be a concept that comes out this year. It will have several weapon options (sword, hammer, gun,...). I'd like this figure to be really detailed, with lots of pattern. It'll be a nice change from the figurines I usually make, which are very uncluttered.

Do you approve of the idea?

That's normal, my friend! I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil, so it's just a habit ... But thank you very much :)

If you check out wilph on the purple site, his TA-3 set has 5 bodies with optional fur that covers one or both shoulders on each of them. The listings are only up over the weekend though, if you want to see how someone else approached it. Personally I'm good with fur on a character here and there, just on whole squads or every character it gets too wolfy :)

radi4n

Awesome, have fun. Passion makes the best minis!

I LOVE GOD

Also thought viking because berserker meaning bear sark, bear pelt. End of the day though bits is bits :)

Zed Notdead

yes, it's true that the furs go just as well on the other chapters! I find it really interesting to put on a SM, even if they're not SW. I don't know if I could do it as an option because I want it on all the figure's shoulders.

mael bazoin

No, I get it. I think the suggestion of a rune-ish/knot like pattern kinda gave me the vibe. I may also be reading thr intent in the sketch wrong too. All comes down to preference I suppose like how some people may not like tabbards or cloaks on their dudes. I'm sure it'll be awesome

Zed Notdead

yes, fur is just an accessory :)

mael bazoin

Oh dear, I really wanted to make a figure with fur on it. But the legs are still in the knight style :)

mael bazoin

It's true! After that, it's up to you what you do with the figurine ;)

mael bazoin

It can be done! I'll just have to think about it when I'm designing.

I don't really see space wolf there...sure he's wearing an animal fur with his cloak but that's the start and end of the wolf look in my opinion. Plenty of other chapters wear furs, even more if you look at when they were legions rather than chapters. I like a pelt on a Dark Angel for example, sure it's not a great beast but if it was a worthy kill then it's paying respect to the roots of their chapter. Or could be an honour bestowed by some planet he was instrumental in saving. And on a separate point (pun absolutely intended), the cloak and fur don't have to be a single piece, I've see. at least one set of five miniatures with cloaks and furs both optional and both can be used, or either one alone. Or neither if you like a bare shoulder.

radi4n

Great! Well, it'll be out within the year for sure then ;)

mael bazoin

Fair enough, I guess I meant wolves in the space viking style

Zed Notdead

Any chance it could have a chainfist option?

I LOVE GOD

I like minis that have lots of chapter/faction detail. I'd be happy.

I LOVE GOD

It looks more like a bear which is cool. We could do with some bear marines

Mark

I like it! If printed at a smaller scale than a marine, it could act as a proxy for an inquisitor in power armor.

Richard Ramos

Personally not interested in the wolves aesthetic so not for me. I did like the BT style though
