Update: My current health status - August #2

The upcoming weeks will be very difficult for me. I started my immunosuppressive treatment today, but I won’t begin to see any positive effects for another 6 to 8 weeks. During this period, I will only be able to manage my skin dermatitis with moisturizing creams (just to hydrate my skin and protect the skin barrier). My doctor also prescribed me an antihistamine to help me sleep (it relieves itching, causes drowsiness, and reduces anxiety). This pill will help me rest at night, but it won’t have any effect during the day.

The hardest part is that my skin is becoming increasingly red due to irritation: it burns, itches, cracks, and sometimes breaks open. I cannot use corticosteroids to relieve my skin; it wouldn’t be ideal, and my body has become resistant to them. That’s why my treatment now consists of an immunosuppressant.

I’ll be saving money to afford the biological treatment, which is the ideal option since it’s not harmful. But while I gather the funds, I’ve decided to start with the immunosuppressive treatment. I’m desperate—I can’t wait three months with my skin suffering while I try to raise the money.

I’ll try to keep working, but there are moments when I simply can’t.

Las próximas semanas serán muy difíciles para mí. He iniciado mi tratamiento inmunosupresor el día de hoy, pero comenzaré a notar los efectos positivos entre 6 a 8 semanas. Durante este período solo podré tratar la dermatitis de mi piel con cremas hidratantes (solo para hidratar la piel y cuidar mi barrera cutánea). El doctor también me recetó un antihistamínico para ayudarme a dormir (alivia la comezón, da sueño y reduce la ansiedad). Esta pastilla me ayudará a descansar, pero durante el día no tendrá ningún efecto.

La parte difícil es que mi piel comienza a ponerse cada vez más roja por la irritación: arde, pica, se agrieta y a veces se rompe. No puedo usar corticosteroides para aliviar mi piel; no sería lo ideal, además mi sistema se ha vuelto resistente a ellos. Es por eso que mi tratamiento ahora consiste en un inmunosupresor.

Estaré juntando dinero para comprar el tratamiento biológico, que es lo ideal, ya que no es dañino. Pero mientras reúno el dinero, he decidido iniciar con el tratamiento inmunosupresor. Estoy desesperado; no puedo esperar tres meses con mi piel sufriendo mientras junto el dinero.

Intentaré trabajar, pero hay momentos en los que simplemente no puedo.
