Development Update - April 2023

Hey everybody, hope you're doing well! This past month I've been busy working on a lot of stability improvements and bug fixes, as well as a couple of interesting features. In summary:

1. FoundryVTT integration

2. GeoJSON export

3. SVG export overhaul

4. Better fill controls

5. CTRL-hover support for deleting buildings + trees

6. More shop names

7. Lots of other minor bug fixes

The big one here is FoundryVTT support. It's a premium user only features that's currently in beta - you can download the module here: https://github.com/thomasjallerton/towngenerator-foundrymodule. This is more than just showing a static image - it grants basically full access to a settlement, including the buildings and people, as well as access to the event and time controls.

This also lets your players see the settlement, with configurable permissions (though I do want to make them more granular in the future). In addition, the module adds the ability to keep the settlement in sync between players, as well as the ability for the GM to mark the players' location on the map.

Please check it out and let me know what you think! Once I'm happy that it's working as a good initial version, I'll try get it released to the Foundry module library.

So what's next? I think I want to overhaul the districts. I haven't decided the scope of this yet, but at the very least I want to increase the variety and expose the details of them in the website. I also want to add the ability to 're-roll' at the district level, like turning a middle-class district into an upper-class one. Is there anything you want to see here? Let me know!

Also since my last post I've created a Discord server, and an offical subreddit:

It's the other way round, you put the foundry URL origin into FTG (the URL you use to access the foundry game). If you're running the foundry app, that's 'http://localhost:30000'.

I'm really new to foundry but really was wanting to integrate your program. I've got it where the map is showing up on my world but I'm not sure where to put the Origins http into on foundry.

Thanks! Does it not show up in the modules list? Double check that the folder name in the modules folder is called 'fantasy-town-generator-import' - you'll likely have to rename the folder.

Might be being stupid but I can't get the foundry module to work, I have updated to v11 so unsure if that has anything to do with it? Have to say though, FTG is great and my jaw dropped when I saw how detailed it was, can't wait to show my party the new town!
