Single point threading a set of timber screws for the clock base

These were an interesting little part to make - 8 are required to fasten the feet from the previous post to the timber plinth. The thread form is a 60 degree degree included angle, with a much larger than usual flat at the base of the thread. Tailstock support is from a simple cone runner turned up for the job.

Using a standard wood router bit to profile brass.

Here's a quick clip of profiling the 4 feet that will sit beneath the clock plinth.

Its a standard 2 flute router bit (cove, 12mm radius, carbide tip) cutting 5mm sheet leaded brass with a modest feed rate/DOC and running at max rpm for my little mill (1800). It did a great job, and was a whole lot cheaper than a ball end mill of sim...

One step closer...

Just finished up the bluing of these hands this evening, and very happy with the result. The gauge plate I used tends to blue a little darker than I would like, but it does polish better so its a trade off. Still a fair bit of footage to shoot for the video, but that's the difficult part done at least!

The hands in progress...

It might sound odd, but making these hands has been the most surprising part of this build so far. Such delicate little parts, yet so important to the visual impression of the clock. Barely a few hundredths of a mm between correct and dead wrong. Still need to bevel and blue, but wanted to show you what they look like tonight.
