There really is a D.O.M. restaurant in Brazil, in São Paolo. Many critics consider it the finest restaurant in South America. D.O.M.5 in Bubbleopolis was established by the great-great grandson of Alex Atala.

Alas, poor, stupid Alex. But this one loses more than his balls and his dignity.
One reader remarked how the deeper Alex gets with Zondra, the uglier Zondra gets.
Y'all ain't seen nothing yet.
Alas, poor, stupid Otto. Also, poor, stupid Otto's balls. This is what kissing _sin permiso_ gets you.
2020-09-23 04:00:16 +0000 UTC View PostThe Five Pillars now have to deal with more wanna-be Pillars. But status in Bubbleopolis depends on performance, and so Sheldon gives them a stage upon which to work on their act.
2020-09-22 04:00:02 +0000 UTC View PostFour hundred meters per second-squared is more than 40 times Earth gravity. No human can survive that kind of acceleration and the androids aren't crazy about it, either. But when one can't Displace across an Oresme shield, Newtonian physics still rules, pretty much.

Comparing these inks to the finished pages one can see I'm doing an increasing amount of work in "post" -- that is, in the coloring phase.
Otto sees a ghost. Meanwhile, Hugo is fully installed in his new, fully-functional bod.

Ah, those were the days.
2020-09-17 16:00:01 +0000 UTC View PostWell at least I haven't fallen quite so far behind this time. ;-)
Alex was in a makeshift jail, his reputation in ruins, his future uncertain but seemingly grim. Then trouble showed up.
Not a lot to see on the page 65 pencils or inks. I copy-pasted a panel from the first page of Volume 5 "Assimulation" to use as a basis for the last panel of page 65 here to drive home the joke.
We also get to meet Barbara Lamdagan (Eithne's grandma) for the first time.
Metropolis is a sprawling city with varied neighborhoods. This one kind of looks like a part of Galveston, only seedier.

2020-07-16 17:00:03 +0000 UTC View PostFor the asteroid rings, I simply set the boundaries in Photoshop and then rendered the rings entirely using Clip Studio tools.
I've been generally migrating more and more to Clip Studio from Photoshop but I still need the latter for its superior text handling. I also prefer Photoshop's selection tools especially at the penciling stage.
Albert Montoya is no babe in the woods.
Anyone care to guess who the stalker is modeled on?
Three guesses, upon whom I modeled that woman in the shadows. Should be easy if you get the clues.
Long-time readers might recognize an older character amongst the people in the bar.

But at least now Hugo and Murphy know the origin of the missile. Too bad it's in hostile territory.
Meanwhile, Hugo and Murphy have caught up with that second missile that had been diverted thanks to the Martello Siblings. Now they just have to wrangle and closely examine a tumbling, two-megatonne, radioactive boulder.
I love having Hugo and Murphy still being very much in love after five centuries. Some relationships DO last, dammit.
Nouveau Mo'orea is renowned for its many tropical archipelagos and top-of-the-line resorts. Unfortunately you'll never know when some jerk will show up and spoil your vacation.
I've been finding some Manga Studio brushes to represent foliage. This one was perhaps not as successful as others. I put foliage on the inks layer so I can ...
Wherein we learn that Jerome ain't exactly "on the up and square," as Popeye would say.
Also, for some reason I apparently forgot how to draw that week. But I remembered later.
Jerome introduces himself to Bok's friends at their luncheon. And learns that he has a lot to learn. But will he learn?

I seem to have mis-counted the pages or something. The last one was page 40. I'm pretty sure.
Anyway, I'm going to try posting these in two-page (one week) installments going forward.

Not to get all Biblical or anything, but sometimes in the script I call them "The Twelve." But there's no Jesus in this story, I promise.
