Do you think a game series should strive to exist for as long as possible (Mario, CoD, Final Fantasy) or should developers - publishers too - know that it's time to retire the ship before it even has the chance to sink? (Sly Cooper, Killzone, Max Payne)
Mmm, I'm not sure if a franchise "should" do anything, though that's also getting idealistic. My general barometer for this stuff is, how much potential is there to realize in a franchise's world?
Max Payne I don't think really has much more to give in terms of character or world. Even Max Payne 3 felt rather forced as it's personal journey for the character was mostly just regurgitating Max Payne 2. However, it's gameplay, has endless potential to be expanded upon.
It's why I've always said I want a John Wick game that builds off of Max Payne's gameplay. The world of John Wick has lots of potential to be expanded upon, whereas Max Payne's doesn't.
Final Fantasy and Call of Duty kind of set themselves up to go on forever, as each game or sub-franchise (Black Ops, Modern Warfare, etc) are just their own individual games.
I actually prefer this style far more than the everything is connected, everything is cannon bullshit.
Basically, if a franchise has the setup to go forever, why not? Though, not every franchise should do it, and the problem is, the former is much more appealing to those looking for a profit.

I was wondering your thoughts on the Mission Impossible and Kingsman movies are, since your very much into spy action thrillers and stuff like that?
I've seen Ghost Protocol and honestly didn't care much for it. I was more entertained by the opening of Mission Impossible III than the entirety of Ghost, which I guess shows what I style I prefer.
The original Kingsman I remember being great, exactly to the Spy genre that Kick Ass was to Superheroes. However, just like Kick Ass, it's sequel isn't bad, but just feels unnecessary. Like the joke is getting beaten down too hard without enough new life.
One thing's for absolute certain though...
They're better than The Gray Man.
