Recommendations: Get Carter (1971)
Added 2024-09-03 02:03:31 +0000 UTCI enjoyed Glenn Powell's Hit Man, and I was thoroughly entertained by Lucy, however... I can't really recommend either film, at least not without some lowered expectations for the former and drugs for the latter, so, here's a classic.
If you're ever bored of Anti-Heroes with a heart of gold and a just cause, the original Get Carter might be exactly what you're looking for, with one of Michael Kaine's coveted roles as an absolute unapologetic piece of crap that somehow, can still make a viewer laugh and tear up when called for.
It's definitely no John Wick, this is a very 70s, very cold, very slow burner that puts a lot of trust in the viewer, but that trust is way more often than not paid back with a stellar performance, unforgettable scene, or just funny quote.
Don't watch the Stallone Remake.
