ONE OK ROCK - Zeitakubyo [ALBUM REVIEW]

Very interesting going way back to the very beginning and checking out some old school 2007 rock!

I wanna get caught up with their albums because I didn’t realize there were so many, but once I’m caught up, I’ll go back to live shows!

I'm going to keep working on their concerts in order like I have been. I have taken a bit of a break from working on them since he started to check out their studio stuff. I've been adding more bands to my drive like Unlucky Morpheus, TK, and LiSA. I've actually been focusing on getting every Gacharic Spin concert/video. They're my next favorite band. just like OOR they're quite special and unlike any other band. They're one of the most energetic, emotional, technical and talented bands I've come across. I'm hoping Jaron will check them out at some point.

Fatalistic Viking

I'm a sucker for the rawer sound (most music these days feels way too overproduced for me), so this felt proper nostalgic. It's fun to see a band grow from real DIY beginnings and follow their development with each release, instead of having acts that get launched with a slick perfect corporate production. I still love quite a few of the songs on this one. Et Cetera is on my extended list of favourites to this day, both in this original version and the live version with the string quartet they did during a later tour. There is actually a music video for that one too (so I'm assuming it must have been the second single release from the album after Neihi Shinsho), but it seems to be really difficult to find for some reason. For Youkubou Ni Michita Seinendan the acoustic version has taken over to the extent that I'd completely forgotten how it sounded originally, LOL. I also really like Yume, Yume. I guess the one big change after Alex left the band was that we lost Toru's rapping after he moved to lead guitar. He was actually credited as the second vocalist on the first album/tour. I even have Yoru Ni Shika Sakanai Mangetsu still on rotation on my playlist. Is the Fatalistic Viking subtitling the Yononaka Shredder tour DVD for this one?

K

I wouldn't say no training - he was a trainee idol for 2 years between the ages of 13 and 15 after all and would have got some training there - though possibly not that rigorous, and he might have thrown out what he learnt as not helpful for singing rock as opposed to the old-school boy band pop style. And yeah, defo still a bit of teenage puppy fat on him in the 2007 concert footage :-)

Taka's vocal training at this point would be best described as "exclusively karaoke" lol. I believe he didn't really get actual training until years after debut. You can definitely hear the difference in technique. It's also weird seeing him with baby fat lol πŸ˜‚ homeboy hit his 20s and instantly started mogging the world with his cheekbones πŸ—Ώ
