The New Rendering PC is Here!

Hi all :)

Today, it is my pleasure to present to you... the new rendering PC!
It has been a long time coming, but it is finally here and ready to churn out some renders!

Firstly, I'd like to thank all of the patrons, current and past, who made this possible.
Thank you! Your support is making the game better! <3

Now, let's start with the specs...

• CPU: Intel i9 12900k + Corsair iCue H150i Elite LCD
• GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti
• RAM: 64gb Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 3600mhz
• Motherboard: MSI MPG z690 EDGE
• SSD: 2tb Samsung 980 Pro M.2 NVME
• Case: Corsair iCue 5000x RGB +  x1 Corsair LL120 (fan)
• PSU: Corsair HX1000 80plus Platinum (1000w)
• Monitor: Alienware AW3423DW QD-OLED

This thing is powerful. And a MASSIVE upgrade over my old rig.
To give you an idea of just how much better this machine is at rendering, I'll use the first image of the new "Anniversary" image-set to compare speeds.

• Old PC: 1000 iterations in 14hrs with halved textures (4K).
• New PC: 5000 iterations in 1hr with FULL textures (4K).

What this means, is that the new PC did 5x the work 14x faster! Yes, it's THAT much more powerful! :D

Not only does it render much faster, but it also allows me to use all maps at their original, full resolution.
This is thanks to the GPU's whopping 24gb of VRAM, which allows me to have scenes 4 times "bigger" than before!
Basically, I can now have 10+ characters on screen, all with full textures (higher detail), without even needing to optimize the scene. That's nuts!

But that's not all...

Raw rendering power is great, of course. But what might be even better is how much faster I'm able to work on this machine.

My old PC greatly struggled to do just about anything.
Loading a scene might have taken anywhere from 2 to 7 minutes.
Previewing a scene would take anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes, to get a good enough idea of what it would look like.
Simulating hair physics was so time intensive (and likely to crash) that it just wasn't feasible to implement.

But the new PC is able to do all this in a fraction of the time!
I can now work without needing to stop and wait for the machine to finish doing it's thing, as the new PC does everything pretty much instantly!

So, all in all, I'm over the moon! :)
It was a big investment, but one that was truly needed.
