Poll-blematic June!

Benedetta
Paul Verhoeven makes a nunsploitation movie basically. Based loosely on real events in which a nun in 17th century Italy suffered religious visions and romanced a fellow nun. Verhoeven is as gleefully gross as ever even if this is a recent outing.
Polyester
Distressed housewife Francine Fishpaw (Divine) deals with an unfaithful husband, a pregnant daughter, and a violent son, all on top of falling in love with Todd Tomorrow (Tab Hunter). John Waters’ first ‘major’ movie is a very fun spoof of Douglas Sirk melodramas, released to theaters with an ‘Odorama’ scratch and sniff card for specific moments.
Heart of Glass
Werner Herzog’s smaller scale narrative drama finds a small village reeling over the death of a famous glassmaker, as several denizens become obsessed with secrets of glassmaking that were taken to the grave. A compelling and very Herzogian drama.
