TWICE 'Between 1&2' Album

As I am still discovering them, I am continually impressed with their styles of singing. There's a lot of versatility and feeling here.

There are some songs that I have reacted to previously so I didn't include them.     Find them here:

Talk that Talk live - https://www.patreon.com/posts/twice-talk-that-71094265

Talk that Talk MV - https://youtu.be/RlHNvo9LexY

Queen of hearts - https://youtu.be/w7IMg30Mom4

Here are my top choices in particular categories

CONCEPT - Queen of Hearts. Tbh this could be the best melody also for the dips and crescendo but since those power moments often highlight the point that they are queens I had to agree and choose this as the best concept.

MELODY - Brave. There were points that were expected and satisfying, but also points that went against the melody which was really interesting.

VOCALS - gone. the depth of their tones, with power vocals shooting through once in a while, was special.

BEST SONG - Talk that Talk, common it has everything in it. it is so bright fun and mature at the same time which is surprising.

Over to you - what are your favorites??

TWICE 'Between 1&2' Album

Comments

Chaeyoung usually gets better raps (or the whole rap line in general) if the members wrote it, which is the case for this album. Basics - written by Chaeyoung Trouble - composed and written by Jihyo Gone and When We Were Kids - written by Dahyun Agree with the lyrics and members highlighted too, usually random_k and random_j are the best for lyric videos. And they did sing When We Were Kids in their concert 😭🤧

Locke Nozee

I love this mini album, I wish you would react to Formula of love: O+T=<3

Perla

Yes, I agree when we were kids would make me bawl live

Yetti

My favs are in this order -Talk That Talk (my top song on spotify last year 😭) -Basics (whenever chaeyoung picks up that pen it’s always fire) -Trouble -Gone -Brave -When We Were Kids I also think you’re so right about the order being weird when we were kids is always kinda jarring when i listen to the full album which is why i usually don’t end up listening to it despite it being a good song. It just doesn’t fit the mood the last songs put me in lol. But i know if they sing that in concert i Will cry.

Gothshark

My favorite B-side on this album is Gone, followed by When we were kids, and Trouble, though I love all the songs on this album. I love the title track as well. I am still humming it months later out of nowhere.

kaegthegamer

True! FOL is fire i hope you do get to check it out next. But an unconventional recommendation would be this one special stage they did a few years ago covering ariana grande’s Greedy! Chae inserted her own rap there too. Absolutely awesome. 😍

Liann Garcia

Hope we can do formula of love next

If you want to react to some TWICE concert material I recommend these ones: Hello - MoNaChae Unit - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HmS21cFzfGo Rewind - https://youtu.be/pz_5MIl6QtI Iconic - https://youtu.be/uN1EDXrUDqI Dance the Night Away - https://youtu.be/9o-oYnFzVR0 Touchdown - https://youtu.be/sviolgjMlcA Shot Clock - https://youtu.be/IuLb6HCCEsA Note: Some of these don't have Jeongyeon in it as she was on hiatus for her health at the time.

OnceTwice

there's this channel who posts upscale videos of their concerts, https://youtube.com/@onceforever_twice

Same! I think it lets them explore stuff they wouldn't usually! Like the chaenamo unit song Hello is SO outside of what twice normally do

Amy Murphy

I'm just saying you see more of it as her projects have no rapping, only her singing.

SoDakDave

Reverse order sounds interesting, I'd like to get some concerts in there too

Yetti

That would be a good idea

Yetti

She already showed that here. She's not in a box

Yetti

I love unit songs, brings such a different dimension

Yetti

I'm very surprised, pleasantly

Yetti

As others have said, Formula of Love is such an amazing album and really showcases all the members. ((: <3 I think you'd really enjoy Last Waltz in particular. The sub-unit songs in FOL are also just.. so good.

Ryker

One of reasons why Chaeyoung, or just the raps in general are better on the b-sides is when they are writing the raps themselves. All of the Twice members have penned lyrics for their B-Sides but Chae has penned the most and her rap verses are great each time. I don't know why her raps on Title tracks are so terrible though - I often wonder the same thing. Why they just don't use her skills to make a better verse for her.

OnceTwice

Yesss please react to formula of love too it’s so good

Taz388433

Yaaaay it’s up! Man. The whole time while you were reacting I was secretly wishing you would discover that the members themselves wrote most of the tracks. Especially the thought of Jihyo producing Trouble is insane. Just appreciate their involvement in the process of the albums too. I think as you enter this journey listening to twice you’ll discover the consensus of most once’s that their bsides >> title tracks haha And what’s interesting is that this album really was Between1&2 and I loved your explanation how it starts off them showing their twice persona through title track but as we go thru the album it lets us once’s enjoy the album listening journey even more knowing they contributed I’m just a proud momma here :’) Hope you get to go through their other albums too - and do a backwards journey (: their Japanese Celebrate album is a ride worth taking too Can’t wait for more reactsss 🤘🏼🙌🏼

ughhtwice

My favorites are Gone, Brave and Trouble, I really love them so much. I was thinking that it would be fun to react to their albums from their most recent one to their debut one like now you’ve listen to Between 1&2, next it would be Formula of Love which was AMAZING and then Eyes Wide Open and then the rest. Obviously take your time, I just got excited 😅 FoL has unit songs which they performed at their concerts in the US. I’m not lying when I tell you I’ve watched all concerts through livestreams, I mean that’s the closest I will get to meet then in Latin America 🥹🫠 thank you so much for your reaction!!

Christel

for me trouble, gone and brave give me so much energy when we were kids makes my heart warm (i need this at the end of a concert and a montage video of them) basics is my favorite thanks for reacting to this album!!!! if you can would you please react to formula of love? it's such a great album and with three sub-unit songs

You should also check out some of their individual performance and melody projects. You will really see how good a vocalist Chaeyoung is besides being a rapper in hers. These are all covers, but really show a different side of each member that has done one.

SoDakDave

vocals for me was brave/gone i cant choose basics is my fav song from this overall though.

huggieteddybear

and jihyo also was the lead producer for trouble!!

ttalgi chae

I think trouble and gone are my faves off this album, I just love this sort of sound from them! I think as far as b-sides go, between 1+2, formula of love and feel special have the best! Formula of love has unit songs (chaeyoung+nayeon+momo, jihyo+sana+dahyun, jeongyeon+mina+tzuyu) and some really great slower songs that showcase all the members voices really well! Feel special has some of the most interesting twice b-sides like love foolish and get loud!

Amy Murphy

Yeah, almost everyone have melody projects on their youtube channel. But an official solo just nayeon, jihyo has some OSTs.

ju arguello

When it comes to the songs, Chaeyoung, Jihyo and Dayhun wrote the majority of the B-sides for this EP. Dayhun wrote Gone and When we were kids, Chaeyoung wrote Basics, and Jihyo wrote Trouble.

kaegthegamer

You said it was hard seeing/imagining nayeon singing Gone bc she was always smiling, being cute, now what if i say dahyun, our bright and smiley dahyun, wrote it (she also wrote when we were kids, tho)? hahaha And did you saw what i said about chaeyoung having better raps in the b-sides? i love this album so much, i was wating for this react/review. Thank you. Now i will recommend you to listen to formula of love, it's a full album, and is one of their best (in my opinion) ♥

ju arguello

great. Do the others have solo's? covers even

Yetti

yay

Yetti

I was going to recommend this, but then I scrolled down just to check! Yay!

Hans Olav

yaaaay thanks for the review!, hope we get Formula of Love, Taste of Love and Eyes Wide Open too someday!! These 3 are just..... wow Oh and Nayeon's stuff too, to celebrate her winning best female artist at MAMA!!!
