I am an archivist and actually studied in Rome briefly an got to visit the Vatican Secret Archive (note secret in this context just means private ie not open to public). Very cool but not at all as hi tech looking as that. The priest who showed us around said they love movies like Angels and Demons that give them these high tech labs "we wish we had that funding!"

Also I have to laugh that for all the “based on a true story” stuff, they pointedly never name the pope and he has an Italian accent, when the real pope at the time was the Polish John Paul II. I get the feeling they maybe wanted to go too hard on the “real story” parts
