2025-01-25 16:30:16 +0000 UTCMaybe I’m completely wrong but it seems like the ironic segue cuts get faster in Season 5, which I how I prefer them. A lot of these types of transitions in early Buffy are telegraphed by the length between what someone says and the cut to the ironic image/line. Example of the quick cut in this episode: the cauldron cut in the opening scene.

But I think she can show her feelings without verbalizing it. Perhaps she's gun shy because of how much she was hurt by her Angel relationship. Or maybe she doesn't feel as intensely as she did with him.

Moving out of his basement at the end, Xander calls up more or less fond memories: "That's where Spike slept" (in Hush (1999)); "That's where Anya and I drowned the Sepavro demon (in Something Blue (1999)); "That's where I got my heart ripped out" (in Xander's dream in Restless (2000)) When Xander despairs over how his double seems to be doing everything better than him, he says, "Take my life, please!" This is a paraphrase of the famous one-liner by comedian Henny Youngman (1906-1998): "Take my wife, please!" Nicholas Brendon's real-life twin brother Kelly Donovan is his body double for this episode. In almost all of the scenes, Nicholas Brendon played suave and goofy Xander, with his brother Kelly Donovan playing the double with the non-speaking role. Kelly only spoke in the scenes where both Xander's halves had speaking lines. bonus fun facts: Here are some weapons that start with the letter "Z": Zweihänder - A large two-handed sword used during the Renaissance period in Europe.
