We reward people for their mistakes in society with jail regardless of how much they try to undo whatever crime was just committed. In a media-centric world in which we vote with our wallets, the closest thing the court of public opinion can do is fine a business with a penalty of lost revenue. We don't give people years or money back, even if they go back and fix the guardrail they smashed while they were driving drunk. Damage done, sentence given. The forgiveness aspect is that maybe some day in the far future when they do something worthwhile, they have a chance of me re-subscribing. I can't imagine how much a toddler tantrum big businesses must be having when people don't come crawling back after they apologized, "Baby! I've changed! I'm a new man!"

2025-10-08 11:24:04 +0000 UTCThe idea behind not re-subscribing after the corporation "fixes" their mistake is that they don't get to just mess with people's livelihoods and just go "whoopsies, sorry about that" after the damage is already done. I'm not going back to a corp that has revealed itself to not care about anything but money when there are endless sources of entertainment out there from people and businesses that haven't directly pissed me off lmao
