Richard Pryor was actually set to star as the Sheriff however the movie studio refused due to Richard's controversial image in those days. Would've been amazing however Cleavon Little delivered an unforgettable performance as Sheriff Bart.

2023-10-19 11:44:22 +0000 UTCAside from Mel Brooks making fun of EVERYONE, he was one of the first to break the ‘4th wall’… that’s where the studio and theater parts at the end really got involved… before that it was talking to you through the camera… oh! And the hangman was the same one from Robinhood Men in Tights!!

2023-09-06 20:23:32 +0000 UTCIf I remember correctly, the script was written mostly by Gene Wilder & Richard Pryor. Yes, the language and racial bits are offensive, but as you said, it was done to really show how dumb those stereotypes are. Of course, this is one of those movies that would NEVER be able to be made today. You guys should check out some of the other Mel Brooks' movies as well. They're all pretty hilarious. "Spaceballs" is my absolute favorite, but "Young Frankenstein," "History of the World Part 1," and "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" are pretty hilarious too! :)

2023-09-05 22:43:06 +0000 UTCGlad you guys liked it, “Blazing Saddles” is really a classic. You guys should do “Young Frankenstein” for Halloween, it also has Gene Wilder and Madeline Kahn in it. And while Halloween is in the air, you guys should also check out “Elvira, Mistress of the Dark”.
