EARLY ACCESS STAR WARS EPISODE VII: THE FORCE AWAKENS | FIRST TIME WATCHING | MOVIE REACTION

General Hux was also in Harry Potter as Bill Weasley. He was married to Fluer DeLaCoure. The Stormtrooper who dropped that rifle when Rey said was Daniel Craig of James Bond movies. He was uncredited but wanted a bit part.

I 'member...

I ended up liking this movie more than I thought I would, even though it was so much of what I feared Star Wars would become under Disney's control. A little heavy with the memberberries, and playing safe with that old “plans in a droid for yet another Death Star” chestnut. Also, if I were the kind of guy who collected spaceships models or toys, I'd be pretty disappointed with all the new designs. Anything cool was an update or variation on something we'd seen before. But I did like the new characters. So even though I thought I got sold short on an original plot with “A New New Hope Strikes Back”, I liked the character dynamic that got laid out enough that I left the theater wanting to see more of them. And thought things different enough that they could take the story to more interesting territory with them. Harrison Ford's dream finally came true! He's been wanting Han Solo to die since his second movie, and I'd be willing to bet it was a condition to appear. I can't say I disagree with his reasoning, either, even though it's not popularly shared among most Star Wars fans. Solo was my favorite character of the original trilogy, but as sad as I was to see him go, part of me was also glad that cranky old man finally got his wish. He probably won't be truly happy until people stop asking him about Blade Runner or if Han shot first at press outings, but it's step in the right direction. 😁

Ren's lightsaber is also a relatively new item in star wars the crossguard part isn't the jedi of the era known as the High Republic owned a saber like that it's such a cool design What's new about it is the blade, in case you didn't notice, was crackling that's because Ren's kyber crystal is damaged and therefore not perpetuating a stream of energy like normal instead it exudes more energy than it should so, Ren built a bypass system - the crossguard, so the excess energy can launch outward what's more, it's extremely heavy to wield so you need a STRONG Force attunement to have this as a weapon the crackling blade will mean more as the trilogy continues

You Kev, are one of the other blessed millions that have no problem in accepting something new 😉 Vlll also brought me into a new level of star wars analysis and perspective it may have shocked me at first but I rolled with it the experience was truly surreal in a good way

Episode VIII is my favorite after Empire. It truly gave me so much more than I was expecting and embodied everything stars was, is, and could be to me.

Kylo Ren isn't a Sith apprentice he's a dark Force user he uses the dark side but doesn't identify as Sith it's complex but you can be Force-sensitive but not align with a body that uses and/or worships it

Karl Kraus

the planet that was converted into Starkiller Base, it's the location where the Jedi of eons past up to the fall of the Order got their lightsaber crystals, called kyber it was one thing that Palpatine prided himself upon: transforming his archnemesis' most sacred locale into a destroyer of worlds In fact, the kyber crystals is what powered the Death Star as well so these two weapons were distant cousins the planet that was corrupted is called Ilum

Agree 💯 It made me very sad to see some “Star Wars” fans react so harshly and negatively to the new movies. It started with the prequels in the late 1990s/early 2000s. There was no social media then, but some people took to the Internet to take shots at those movies and some of the characters. Now, in retrospect, most fans love those movies. My ex-girlfriend watched the movies with me a couple of years ago and we started from 1-9. She loves “Revenge of the Sith” the most. I have some issues with the new movies, but I’m with you, Karl. Let’s all spread the love!

Fun fact: Luke’s original last name was Starkiller.

FWIW I highly recommend checking out Timothy Zahn’s “Star Wars” novels especially his “Thrawn trilogy”. They were released in the early 1990s, but take place after “Return of the Jedi” and are very good reads. The three books “Heir to the Empire”, “Dark Force Rising”, and “The Last Command” are all available on Amazon. Amber and Jay, you will love these books!

The island Luke is found on was filmed on an old Irish heritage crag named Skellig Micheal, named after archangel Michael it's quite historic, having a monastery hosted there at one time Once you see the next movie, you'll see that every section of the island was used to incorporate whatever is on Luke's island: where he lives, what he does to pass the time, etc. along with things MUCH cooler

Karl Kraus

In the Legends canon (the books and things that Disney pushed aside when buying the property in 2012), Han and Leia actually had three kids: twins Jacen and Jaina, along with younger son Anakin Solo the books had a lengthy timeline that described each of the kids lives, along with their parents, uncle Luke and cousins Jacen had the worst of it he fell to the dark side, like Ben Solo and took on the name Darth Caedus his twin sister had to face him time and time again so if you want to read the books concerning this, it's a really interesting undertaking

With that big weapon from Starkiller base, how lucky is it that they were able to shoot it straight across star systems, with nothing in it's path! Also, it uses the power of the sun to charge its weapon until the sun disappears. Um, how many suns does that planet orbit?

Bringing back the star wars franchise for a SECOND time brought everyone dancing in the streets in the age of social media, this return was a fever that was 1000 times more powerful than the prequels being released the first teaser trailer that was dropped online in Nov. 2014 was the most watched in its first 24 hours up to that point in the next year from spring up to the holiday season nearing the release date, other trailers for the movie broke the record everyone started making their own theories and people were even more interested in seeing a Black stormtrooper in the franchise for the first time ever when it was revealed he was defecting/abandoning the First Order, fans and critics alike raved about that original story idea When the movie had its historic box office run end (over $2 billion), die hards (toxic and otherwise) were going crazy with fan theories: 1. Who was Rey related to? 2. What is Snoke's true identity? 3. Where did the Skywalker lightsaber come from? They went on and on... Let's just say when episode Vlll came out, fans wanted their money and time spent back So, basically, episode Vlll was said to be the hope that the greatest story ever told that was continued with THIS episode that was held by tens of millions... and they view it now as a colossal waste of filmmaking resources they think Disney has ruined everything that George Lucas made, that it's now a cash cow with a political agenda to check off They couldn't stop gnashing teeth and hurling insults, like there was no Off switch to it all So, thanks to guilt by association, Force Awakens has lost all its splendor over the years since it started everyone's so-called misery It feels like the enthusiasm that came from having this all come back to our lives was all an illusion I try every day to push that feeling away whenever I see new critiques about it I won't let that nonsense bring me down Star Wars is Star Wars I'm not a picky crybaby I love every dimension and detail of this galaxy far, far, away Let's all spread the love!

Karl Kraus

Rey is definitely one of the deeper characters in Star Wars. The way she is great at everything without any training whatsoever. It's truly inspiring.

David Crabtree

What a cliffhanger! I bet when we pick back up in the next film, when Luke takes the lightsaber from Rey's hand, it's going to be just epic.. EPIC! No let down at all!!

David Crabtree

You’re so welcome! Thank you!

Jeff Mills

I saw this in the theater in December 2015. It was so much fun to see a new “Star Wars” movie. The audience cheered when Han and Chewie came on screen. The one thing that made me sad is not hearing the 20th Century Fox theme before the movie started.

Jeff Mills

i second that statement! you need to teach the millions of others who think the opposite a lesson Rob Squad!

Karl Kraus

The Force Awakens had the look and feel of the original trilogy so most of us "old school" fans loved it! Saw all nine of these in the theater starting in 1977. Greatest movie franchise... period.

Deb Louie

Thank you so much for that!

Amber and Jay, can I say something? I truly mean this as a genuine compliment. One of the many things I love about you is that you have absolutely no cynicism in your hearts. What I mean is that you truly have love for these movies and many films and songs, but you don’t let negativity cloud your analysis or reactions. You’re both so genuine and full of love and it truly is inspiring. I just wanted you to know that before I started watching the movie with you. 🙏

Jeff Mills

Great to see you continue with these franchises you have started on, and also looking forward to new ones as well. I definitely hope to finally see the reactions to Back to the Future part II and part III as well. Hopefully with only one week apart from each other. It`s been almost a full year since the reaction to the first one now! So what can I say about the BTTF sequels? - "It`s about time"!

Endre Snildal
