Meng Yao's backstory was briefly mentioned in the scene at the beginning of the lecture at the Lan clan. He is actually the illegitimate son of a prostitute and the leader of the Jin clan, so he is the half brother of that "peacock" that was engaged to Wei Wuxians and JiangChengs sister. People always pity him because he lives as a servant because his father doesn't recognize him while his half brother lives in luxury.
