Feeling closer to someone else does not justify being dismissive towards another person. In a similar vein, liking a piece of media is not justification for hating on a different piece of media. A person can have biases, but saying that you can't work towards being better because of that bias is incorrect. We acknowledge our biases so we can compensate for them. No one is free of biases.
