PlayStation Model SCPH-550X (PU-22 motherboard) GPU Circuit Bending Map

Here is a clearer but not quite finished map of the PS 550X GPU circuit bending points. The test points labelled with the pink dots are the GPU data lines 0 to 30.

Connecting these together will cause that polygon madness we all love! Some of these points will cause system crashes, and can be somewhat prevented with the addition of some low value resistors (10-though to 220ohm seemed to be a good working range, ymmv though!)

I find it best to take 10 or so of these points that are nice and stable (and dont cut of half of the screen to nothing) then wire them into a  switch matrix. I would avoid using patch points on something like this as it leaves the device open to ESD damage. I'll be covering how to make a nice push button switch for this.

There are a couple of more things on this mother board to map out though, there are of course the SDRAM glitches i have applied to a few PS1s in the past, the output encoder glitches and also audio DAC glitches so we can get some audio effects going for the full meltdown effect! all of these different bend points can be combined, within limits of course.

The text documentation is almost done and ready to collect into a nice circuit bending service manual of sorts. These mods are totally possible on every PS1 console except
for the last model, and i will be covering them all in time!

Still wondering how to format and structure the video for this project, maybe a series of videos, on for every model. Or one long video that covers all models? I would appreciate your input on what you would think would work best!

Found myself a SCPH-5501 since the last time I visited this page! Would love a guide on wiring up a switch matrix to these pads. Circuit bending one of these with an XStation mod would be the dream!
