He is relaxed, looking forward to the confrontation. The enemy will be facing him far underground, in close quarters, and away from the might of their army. He might not have run away even if they didn't corner him.
A fight scene is incoming. It's been too long and they have their own challenges. But I'm having a blast drawing it.
