I wouldn't put it past FAANG+ either. Corporations have large social media budgets and every incentive to convince people that privacy is unattainable. If they can algorithmically place a "misinformation" warning on a video, then they can certainly use the same tools to bot comment on it.

I've been scouring youtube comments throughout this year and have seen a lot of instances of commentors who seem to be government sponsored/motivated and rally the crowd towards a certain idea which is completely contrasting to the video playing which inclines towards more slave-minded propaganda.

2024-11-30 14:07:09 +0000 UTCI always knew defeat-ism would benefit the ones that exploit the people, but this managed to drive the point across - demoralize before any resistance can gain enough momentum. Probably the best way to tackle this in conversations is to dig into why a person might say such thing, hopefully concluding at the end it's baseless(in most western countries)

2024-11-25 08:59:08 +0000 UTCAmazingly well said. Even in Western democracies, cops are abusing location tracking tools to spy on their friends and family. Law enforcement agents are searching people's phones to snatch their nude photos. Feds are bypassing courts to spy on individuals without a warrant and then manufacture evidence to persecute individuals. Some could argue these are individual failures in an otherwise optimal system. I don't think these are failures. They are features.

2024-11-21 13:34:31 +0000 UTCI find the statements about why you make the effort very interesting. People living in a Western democracy should also think about privacy. Systems are changing. Democracies are already ruled by autocrats and slowly being rebuilt. There can always come to the point where you are also asked as a system-loyal citizen whether you want to support the system as it is. If you answer no to this question, then privacy measures are no longer optional but mandatory. The technical requirements for even more precise mass monitoring are already there. It is failing, in Western democracies only because of political will. And the enemies of freedom know that too.

YouTube.com/@businessreform I’ve also noticed a lot of defeatist comments so I implemented a new series of videos called “White Pill Wednesday” where I talk about privacy wins. Those usually take the form of privacy lawsuits / judgments at the state or local level.
