DevLog v2.7 - Week 4 - Important Update
Added 2022-03-22 18:41:55 +0000 UTCHenlou everyone! It is featheryboy here.
I’d like to discuss today on a topic I’ve been studying for a little while now and what I’ve been noticing while translating the story, and it is something I wish to improve on the game that is the writing.
Not only do I want to make it consistent across the entire game (compared to the first iterations of the game and the latest versions of it) but I want to make it a better experience for the reader.
What I’ve been wondering about was what kind of Point of View the story should have. There are many pros and cons for each one (First, Second and Third Person) and how they would show the story to the reader.
The game was primarily made in the Third Person Limited point of view, and then later changed to the Second Person. I believe some inconsistencies can still be found inside the game, and I wish to address that before moving much forward to the game.
What is my proposition?
I want to rewrite the entire story that has been made so far (old saves will not be lost), getting up to a higher quality standard and set a fixed POV for the entire writing going forward.
All story paths will be the same (maybe there will be an addition of new ones if needed) but your current save would be unchanged.
Why am I planning to do this?
As mentioned, I wish to improve the game consistency across the board and give every player a better story-telling experience.
I also wish to use the time rewriting the first sections of the story to add game mechanics and better foundations for it. So that there’s more reason to call our project a real game.
What POV will I choose?
I will make short segments of the In-Jail chapter on each Point of View I wish to experiment on and present to you guys. Following it, there will be a discussion made with the Trash Hero patrons and then a Poll regarding what point of view you’d rather have inside the game.
Of course, if this isn’t an idea you guys wish to see, feel free to let me know. I can scrap it all together and proceed to rewrite the story in the current version for consistency. But I do think it would make the quality of our game way better.
What updates will come to Trash Hero during this process?
Anything that betters the game experience will be added while this rewriting process is in the making. I believe this will help me have a better breathing room to experiment and add in the future for the game as we will have better defined mechanics.
Drawings for every sex scene included inside the game, as well as reference drawings for characters when you first meet them will be added during this overhaul process. To make it a more consistent experience for future players and with overall better quality.
Side-Stories or any content related to the current setting and world the Player is currently playing at! Including Lore, Religion, how magic works in our universe and much more.
Making our ‘game’ feel more like a game. Here’s a list of additions I wish to add to the game:
- Bestiary - Read everything about the enemies you encounter and also get to read again all the special scenes with said enemy. Also with pictures.
- Relationship’s Tab - Get to know more about the characters you encounter in the story! See their affection level towards you and also special scenes you had with them. Also with pictures.
- Lore Book/Religion - Discover more about the universe while inside the game. Feature to be implemented inside the “Notes Menu” in different tabs!
- Consumable Items: Make them useful during combat.
- Craft System: Make new armor and equipment with the resources you encounter in the wilderness!
- Guild System: We currently only have one (Thieves Guild) but I wish to add many more guilds inside the game that provide the player with certain benefits and bonuses.
- Better Classes: Make each class feel more unique and add Subclasses to them in the future.
- More Spells! Make the spell system more funcional during combat inside the game.
- Character’s Tab Overhaul: Remake the Player Characteristics tab with unique images of the player and equipment.
And anything that makes our game feel more RPG like.
Please let us know what you think about this change!
Your opinion is what matters us the most, and is what shapes our game going forward. Let me know if you think this is the right path we should be taking for the game. My idea for this project is to make a believable and immersive setting for our players to enjoy while also interacting with various characters!
Although this is mostly just an idea for now, I plan on going forward with this direction to increase the level of our game.
Thank you so much for your attention and support, everything that is happening to our game is being made thanks to you! If it wasn’t for your patronage, we wouldn’t have put so much care and attention to the universe and quality of the game.
Good luck out there adventurers! - RaccoonThings Team
