Why Didn't I Visit Ukraine + What Happened In Belarus?

There's a big reason why I skipped these two on my way to Russia.

Hey man! Thanks for doing all you do!

Did he? How did you find out?

LM

I'm glad you made it out of Russian detention. It could have been a lot worse. Stay safe!

Something that stuck with me about Switzerland and their culture, impartiality. They believe that the media and most of all people in general, should not try to influence how others feel. You are entitled to do your own research about any topic and form your own thoughts about it. I think you should try to incorporate this int your life, John.

Hi Tommy, just found this about a UK vlogger's experience in Belarus...cant wait for your video to drop on here..https://youtu.be/_l1tOcblOjw?si=ZWgtm_AAHSfbKcrl

Mike Peacock

Safety first. Entertainment and a little education are great, but if the boogeyman man gets you that's that. Love it! A MINEOLA FAN

Sarah Tyson

Your safety is the most important thing, I’m happy you seem to have your head screwed on straight and are looking out for #1. Russia is a place I’d love to visit, hopefully the geopolitical situation will allow it someday.

IF you were Ukrainian you'd feel much differently

John - I’ve traveled to Ukraine, Belarus, and Russia - each a handful of times - all prior to the current horrendous war. I can proudly say “Slava Ukraini” and still support Tommy’s current travels because I agree with his philosophy of differentiating a countries people vs a countries government (and this is not just about these three places). I deeply worry about my friends in Kyiv; but I still want to see an IMPARTIAL video from the streets of Moscow. (Ditto from Israel and other places.) Tommy is the sane/calm/neutral voice here; far more so than some media outlets or other YT sources. I’ll continue to support him; as long as he continues to travel and show us all normal life and normal people vs government dictated content. John - I understand your passion - Tommy isn’t your enemy (and his spend is peanuts in the big scheme of things). I’ll repeat: Slava Ukraini! My mum was born in Eastern Czechoslovakia, which is now a beautiful part of Southern Ukraine that after visiting, I care for deeply.

It's crazy that in the area you were in, you couldn't even really tell that there's a war going on. Russia looks beautiful. I would love to go there someday. Hopefully the conflict will end soon.

Sanctions should mean something brother. Then a Russian vid illustrating norm goin' on and the ambivalence to deaths, kidnapping and millions displaced is honestly a dumb move. As a New Jersey Ukrainian I'm disappointed in you, keeping it real. I'm sure Russians love your travel experience... Ukrainians who live in fear daily, probably not...Slava Ukraini

John Worobetz

Figured this was the reason, that only makes sense. I was worried that you'd get conscripted into the military or serve as an entertainment monkey for any nation that might find you hostile. Take care of yourself, Tommy, be safe.

Thomas 'Tonepoet' Lindsey

I worry about you in some of the places you go

As ValueTraveler says, it is only "controversial" to those who go along with the narrative. Your Vlog shows us that the Russian people are just getting on with life. The lack of animosity they seem to have shown you and the fact that you can still travel there speaks volumes. Thanks Tommy ...keep doing what you do..ignore the haters

Michael Peacock

it is only "controversial" to those who go along with the narrative! ! I went to Russia 2 years ago and was interviewed at the border twice (going in and leaving) and specifically asked about any connections to Ukraine (None) so I understand you completely. There is also the Bald and Bankrupt case whose videos caught up with him. At the same time, no-one on the ground bothered me in relation to the war. I did think what happens if I want to go to Ukraine now (I don't) with a Russian visa. You seem to suggest it's more of a problem the other way round but I am not so sure. Keep on trucking!

ValueTraveler

Also as geopolitical tensions mount Iran and Saudi Arabia/Israel might be next to go up in flames. Although i don't think I've ever seen anyone attempt Iran yet! An American passport is probably a big no no in Iran though

Cabo James

Better to play it smart than end up in the gulag or worse. Definitely a high risk visit, and i could tell how nervous you were before you entered the country. Definitely controversial but when you walk into Russia wearing a bullseye 🎯 on your shirt, we can at least commend you for your bravery! Fun to watch. 🪆

Cabo James

Stay safe Bobby
