2023-08-11 06:08:20 +0000 UTCPlease excuse me for this but was thinking abt this after the Ariana grande episode, when I was in high school & across the universe came out there was one girl who tried to be like all these new fans of the Beatles are fake fans I’m a real fan of the Beatles, and I was like babe you can’t do that it’s literally the Beatles, now I’m wondering is this an aspect of what fuels toxic and insane fandom for superstars? Like you can’t be a “real fan” or like “I liked them first” about a global pop star so if you have that itch to feel superior to other fans you have to go full obsessive and chart their every move and possible hidden clue/ulterior motive. Actually so embarrassed to be posting this but I really am wondering, I was born with good taste so this type of insecurity has never been a problem for me I am trying to understand as an outsider.
