This took me back to the mid 1970s, biology class in high school. There were several newer microscopes, with electric lights for illumination,. There was also one old German-made 'scope, with three objective lenses, and that old mirror for light. I was the only student who would try it. Our professor, who had become a good friend to me, said it was more powerful and precise, with much clearer images, with good natural light. I loved that old microscope, and always went to it. I'm sure it's still in use. I imagine it was left over from when the school could only afford one microscope for the class, when they were made so well.
