Bonus #260 - More AI Hypocrites (Pestilence, Kesha, Serj) (Extra Dose)

VIDEO LINK: https://youtu.be/0WXnsmvx-R0

Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day, and just a reminder that this Saturday it's the annual companion to the Worst Songs video, "Buckley vs Billboard's Top 10 Songs of 2024"! Anyway, before we get to that, how about we make fun of some musicians that are too dumb to realize they're going to cannibalize their own careers? Enjoy!

A followup-of-sorts to a previous video about Nicki Minaj and Tara Strong promoting AI art (while claiming to be against AI replacing THEM), we look at some more musicians who have decided to use generative AI instead of working with actual artists or photographers. Patrick from Pestilence, Serj from System of a Down, and Kesha from... Kesha... all seemingly want to normalize using tech that will eventually put them out of business... but are they naive? Or just arrogant?

The kesha cover is particularly egregious, because like, its just spray painted bags. You could do that in your backyard for the price of some used handbags and a can of paint. She probably could have even saved more money and had her fans send her bag for free just in hopes of having their handbag as part of her project.

I hadn't heard about this, but the idea of artists being happy that they don't have to support artists is... ugh.

AI is one of the worst things to happen to humanity. Pandora’s box has been opened.

Ash Archer

My favorite phrase for this slop is "ai generated images" because art is made my a human, this is just images that a computer generated based on a few words and a bunch of stolen art

Greggleblom

Given that companies like Microsoft are trying increasingly to get away from home computers and push us all into the cloud where AI can be allowed to dictate our computing needs , how long will it be before those of us that DO upgrade computers are out on our collective ears?

Chika

As someone who likes Kesha’s music, I’m surprised she hasn’t just said: “Ya’ll always say you miss my electronic auto tuned pop, why is the album art being fake any worse?”

Jonathan Willis

Currently, we're at the stage where you can make a whole song from AI, get an actual producer to sort it out and it'll play on the radio at Asda

Summer Hay

I feel the people who defend AI in the art realm (or any area where it's not practical), were the same type of kids in school who didn't put effort into anything.

If at some point, a bunch of T-800s march past my house and ask me where (and if) there is any resistance or military activity nearby, I would just point them in the right direction. Give them few buckets of oil as well to make the march smoother, and if it's my time to get clocked out, ask if they at least have a pleasure capable model in their ranks that looks like Kristanna Loken that can spare a few minutes. Cause if anything, we brought that shit on ourselves. Though with the new wave or anti-education and science denial that has arisen in the last few years, the "AI overlord" future looks less likely than that of Idiocracy.

Shaka, When the Walls Fell

They ain't even the fart. The only practical use for album art was to stare at the inside fold of a double album cover while you painstakingly cleaned your ditch weed. I am still convinced this BS is going to lead us straight to Terminators, or the Futurama Santa.
