Hey everyone, it's Bonus Dose Day, and for those of you who were alive in the 1980s or 1990s, which movie did you hope would be the more accurate depiction of our future... Back to the Future 2? OR The Running Man? If you said the second one... you're in luck, we might be almost there! Enjoy this video about one of the more bizarre TV reality show pitches you've ever heard.
"Dystopian Game Shows" are an incredibly popular trope in horror and science fiction. Things like Battle Royale, the Hunger Games, The Running Man, where people compete with their lives for a big prize at the end, usually their freedom, it's high stakes drama that we can all read or watch and think "wow, how screwed up would our world be if we let things come to that?" WELP... at least one TV producer wants to create a game show where immigrants compete for US citizenship... and the Department of Homeland Security said "we'll think about it".

Reminds me of the Squid Game reality show where they mimicked the contestants getting shot... making the show in the first place was tone deaf to the original message but why did they need to take it to that level?!

2025-07-15 05:59:06 +0000 UTCIt's maybe one of the worst things to ever be created, and I remember when FOX was having Kobayashi face off against a caged Bear in a hotdog eating competition, having Screech from Saved by the Bell box, and putting on a reality show in which "little people" competed with regular sized people on a dating show.
