Honestly surprised at Cecil and Jeffrey happily accepting Hachi’s story about what happened to the son/husband. Hachi readily admits to killing a priest for his robes. Not for self defense or food but just to have an easier time moving around. Like that’s cold blooded and manipulative. I do think the MIL needed to finesse the situation better because it was basically unavoidable and she needed to secure her survival.

I was so happy when this got picked - I absolutely adore this film, and Kuroneko, also directed by Kaneto Shindo. The cinematography and shot choices are just stunning and filled with so much mood. And so fucking eerie. LOVED the discussion - already listened to it twice. 😆
