You know, I don't see him exactly resisting or struggling to get away...which may be part of why he'll make it to the next full moon. Also, he was probably "attacked" by just the right werewolf. Some of them are big, scary rage monsters, whereas others can manage to wait for five or ten minutes to see if mayhem is actually necessary.
