There is a fan theory that Cleo was hired by the Russians in Paris to distract Beth so that the Russian would win. Cleo was the only person Beth had told about her crush on Towns. Is it then a coincidence that Towns showed up at the last minute to hopefully distract her once again at the world championship. A fun and inspiring series worth of a rewatch every few years.
