I'm currently only on this episode, but so far, I agree with both of your sentiments exactly. Aang and Katara's relationship (whether it be as the animated series turns out, or only friendly), is one I'd like to see have more progression at this point. I'm really enjoying Sokka's actor's portrayal, though, as well as Aang's, and a lot of other elements in the live action. No adaptation (of course) could ever compare to the animated series, but it's one I feel has been worth the watch (at least).
