Okay, I've heard back from the Color Tech about how I've formatted pages so far!

Drumroll please -

The Color Tech says that the page formatting looks a-okay! PHEW. The only thing I have to do is make sure the bleed is bigger on every page!

A Bleed is a printing term that refers to when artwork "runs off of," or extends past the physical edges of the artwork. When pages go to print, the printers will bind the pages, then cut all the edges of the paper so that they are all a consistent size whose edges fit together cleanly into one smooth edge. So if you want your artwork to extend past the edge of the paper, you have to draw a little extra along the edges so that no matter where they cut it, it will look clean and professional.

As it is, I've given every page a 1/8th inch bleed (meaning that I add an extra eighth of an inch around the edge of every page), but the Color Tech thinks things would be a lot safer with a quarter-inch bleed instead! So I'll have to increase the physical size of each comic, and quickly add a little extra simple colors and such to every page.

So for example:

The Inner Red Line was my original bleed mark... the red area around it is the new bleed area that I have to fill with new artwork. (I also need to size down the word balloon in the first panel so that it fits within the safe area, as outlined by the green line... but one thing at a time.)

I know this sounds complicated, but I promise it's actually a lot simpler than the way I've explained it, and with any luck you won't even notice this extra little change (if I do everything right). It just means a little extra work on my end, but considering all the other things that could have been wrong, this is a thing with an easy fix, so I'm not complaining!

Anyway, what this means is that I'll have to go through Chapter 1 again and make that fix, and then I can forge ahead into the other chapters. Things should start moving really fast now!
