Tasky - First Look

So I've spent this past week frantically coding this. 😁

Hopefully this will bring a new age of Tasker where absolutely everyone can use it!

Keep in mind that everything you see here is very much subject to change after user feedback. :) This is just the first version and I'm pretty sure that it will change a lot!

Just for you, my dear Patrons, here's this version of Tasker that has the Tasky variant! I would be very curious to know what you think of the new experience and if you have any feedback!

Download here.

I can't guarantee that this new version is bug-free but the old Tasker part should be alright since I didn't change almost anything about it, so, at worst, the new Tasky part could not work 😅

Let me know what you think if you can! Enjoy! 🤓

Thank you! I hope it will 😁 The downside is that I focused so much on learning and coding last week that now I have a million emails to respond to 😋

Yeah, that's the idea! 😅 I want to give those people that don't exactly have a do it yourself kind of mind the opportunity to use Tasker as well!

João Dias

Thank you very much! :) Very glad it's getting a good reception here!

João Dias

Loving Tasky! João has a very good habit of adding things to seriously improve the overall experience. All that frantic coding will pay off, I'm sure. Excellent stuff.

This looks really cool. This might make an app a little bit more popular cause you can just input basic data and go with it. I love to watch how Tasker grows with every update

Artem

This is genius. You keep coming up with new brilliant ideas for our favorite app.

Joe Gotta

Thank you! :) Very glad you like it!

João Dias

I love what I see so far. Very cool. I think this will be useful for everybody, especially beginners.

Unfortunately I can't mention TaskerSettings inside the app because of Google Play Store policies. It's super frustrating. Would be much easier to simply link to it there!

João Dias

Yes, you can switch between Tasky and Tasker at will. I even did that in the video! 😅 And, to control with a mouse you simply need to connect a mouse directly to the device :) I do it via USB.

João Dias

Yeah, that's a bug, sorry! 😅 Thanks for reporting!

João Dias

I wasn't considering it, but maybe 😅 Thanks for the input!

Forgot to mention I randomly came across https://github.com/joaomgcd/Tasker-Permissions which is sooooo nice. No more deciphering conflicting posts in the forums. I suggest folding this into the Tasky tutorial as well.

This will be helpful even for non-beginners. I may have figured out how to use AutoInput but I'm sure I can learn something new from Tasky. Will I be able to flip the modes back and forth? And apparently I missed the memo on how to work on Android with a mouse/keyboard. Are you using VNC or some other strategy in your recording?

André Srinivasan

Looks like on existing installs you get the Tasky tutorial even if your chosen destiny is the full version of Tasker. Not sure if that's intended or not.

Brayden Houston

Love these sneak peaks! This will be a much easier learning curve for new(er) users.

Brayden Houston

That's noce for beginners. Although didn't expect a completely new way of interaction. Love the fact you can easily access setting for each imported project. Is that coming to projects not shared as "basic"?
