Upload Schedule, Plans, and Thanks

Hi all, firstly, thank you so much for your support, I'm enjoying making more and more elaborate videos for the channel, and it's all thanks to you!

2022 HOLIDAY UPLOAD SCHEDULE

I'm going to make two tweaks over the holiday season:

1. I'm going to push back the public video by a day, to fortnightly Fridays. If you're subscribed on Patreon on any tier, you will continue to get an early video on Thursday, but the public one will be delayed to Friday. Should there be any last-minute fixes as I produce the public version, I'll roll that into the Patreon video retroactively, so patrons always get the best version. No ads, of course!

2. The next scheduled video WOULD be the 22nd of Dec, which is when I will be visiting family for the holiday. So I will push the release a week to the 29th of December.

PLANS

I plan to double my video output in 2023! I am not certain the exact form, either weekly videos on the main feed, or a second related channel - I'd love your ideas and suggestions here.

In either case, the Agile video was the test for this - can I do non-Rust videos? The numbers say: yes! I don't think I'll do another project management video, that wasn't as enjoyable to engage with the community with, there was lots of negative comments from people who love their own personal hell too much!

But some ideas of non-rust topics I could absolutely write videos on include, but are not limited to:

I've got, like, 50 more in my notes! Any of these spark excitement?

THANKS

I uploaded my first Rust video on the 21st of April, and my life has changed extraordinarily since then.

1819 friends on Discord, how is that even POSSIBLE! Many will be here for LT and MP, but the vast majority are here for NB.

Thanks so much to my patrons, my expansion plans in 2023 are fuelled by your generosity.

Have a wonderful holiday season, and I'll see you on the 29th/30th for the next video, and perhaps on Discord before then :-)

oh that sounds COOL! I love APRS!

No Boilerplate

Last thing today - if you're looking for ideas, over the next week or two I'm learning a new api at work and going to submit a story automate bits of work and have the main db track CRUD operations. Selfishly, I'd love to see the rusty way to make the call, get the json, change data, send the put. I'm not a real programmer, and I bet there's pitfalls to avoid and clever approaches to take. I would love to see tasks like this done by tools that are kB in size. c64 cloud orchestration. :)

I should have checked crates before responding! APRS would be perfect. I just helped a school setup for a rocket competition (lightweight) and get their rocket to respond to aprs via rtl-sdr + rpi + direwolf. I've also setup baofeng + digirig + direwolf + scripting (push buttons, blink lights). Imagine this as a project - send aprs text message to alert when your power or network goes down.
