For all the awkward fumbling through the flirting and the kissing and the revelation that both of them had enjoyed themselves, Genji sort of expected the hotel visit to be awkward too. He thought it might result in a lot of talking, maybe some cuddling and some more kissing, but probably only after some intense discomfort.
He wasn’t wrong.
The elevator ride, at least, was tense and curiously silent. Genji shifted his weight, and so did Lúcio, and every tiny movement set off another round of the strange thing bubbling under his skin. Anticipation, probably, but it had been so long since he’d felt it outside a battle that this different form made him feel as though his body wasn’t quite his own.
Lúcio’s grip on his hand was stubborn like he refused to be cowed by the sudden awkwardness, and he did not let go until it was time to dig out the keycard. Once inside, the discomfort seemed to expand exponentially until it was filling Genji’s lungs and making it impossible to breathe. Lúcio shifted his weight beside him.
“So,” Lúcio said.
Genji had nothing to say to that.
Lúcio had his bottom lip between his teeth, and he wouldn’t quite look at Genji. It was simultaneously endearing and distressing, and there was nothing Genji could think to do to fix it. He wondered if the paralysis was some sort of punishment for the years spent treating his sexual partners with so little regard. The thought dug its claws in and refused to go away, and Genji found himself standing with his mouth half open, unable to think of anything to say.
It was beginning to grow unbearable when Lúcio finally let out a frustrated sigh, looked determinedly at him, and said, “This is so awkward, and it really doesn’t have to be, and I just— I really want to kiss you again, and you should do that, if you still want to.”
Genji nodded, and still he could neither move nor speak.
“Oooookaaaayyy.” Lúcio let go of his hand to rub nervously at the back of his neck. “It’s weird, I guess? Because we work together? But I like you, and we could just watch a movie or something.” Lúcio’s expression was much more hopeful at the beginning than at the end of his speech. Confronted with Genji’s continued silence, his face crumpled further into dismay. “You don’t have to— I get it, if you changed your mind.”
“No,” Genji finally managed. “I didn’t change my mind.” He could feel the fluttering behind his ribs again. “It is only that you make me nervous. Very nervous.”
Lúcio was looking at him, hopeful again. “Oh yeah?”
“It is a compliment.” Genji thought his face might burst into flames any second, but Lúcio was beaming now.
“You didn’t seem nervous before.” Lúcio’s smile turned a little sly. “I’m not saying the solution here is just to make out again, buuut…”
Genji snorted out a laugh before he realized Lúcio was not entirely joking. Flustered, and tired of feeling flustered, he nodded before he realized he could communicate his acceptance an entirely different way. His shuffle forward was graceless, but Lúcio tipped his head up in anticipation, and Genji shoved the nerves aside to kiss him.
It began as tentative as their conversation had been. Then Lúcio pulled him closer at the same time as his lips parted beneath Genji’s, and everything seemed to shift and slot into place. Genji pressed forward, leading with his mouth, but his hands and the rest of his body caught up quickly.
He shoved his hands beneath the lumpy sweatshirt and pulled until Lúcio got the hint and raised his arms, letting Genji tug that and the shirt beneath it off in one swift motion. Lúcio grinned at him, lips shining from their kiss, then he hooked a hand behind Genji’s neck and pulled him in again. With fumbling hands and funny, shuffling steps, they managed to get Genji out of his jacket and shirt too before Lúcio abruptly dropped, having found the edge of the mattress with the backs of his knees.
Genji laughed quietly and followed him onto the bed, crawling forward as Lúcio scooted his way back. When they stopped again, Lúcio tugged at Genji until he had to give up on his efforts to avoid crushing him. He sank his weight down onto Lúcio, who responded only by spreading his thighs farther apart.
It was easy, for once, to lose himself in the action, to do anything at all without holding himself in check. He licked his way into Lúcio’s mouth, tried kissing him a dozen different ways until Lúcio was writhing and breathless beneath him, then he tore away to kiss his throat instead.
Fingers combed through his hair and draped along the nape of his neck, and Lúcio sighed and arched beneath him. The skin just beneath his ear was unbelievably soft, with the faintest taste of salt. Genji felt Lúcio’s pulse jump against his tongue, felt the way he went lax at the barest scrape of teeth.
Then Lúcio’s fingers twitched against the back of his neck, and he let out a breathy laugh. “Ow.” Genji pulled back instantly, but Lúcio’s grip tightened and would not let him go far. “It’s okay,” Lúcio said softly. Then his fingers brushed along the carbon fiber reinforcing Genji’s jaw. “You’re just a little sharp in places.”
He felt his face grow hot, and he no longer knew what to do, embarrassed and frozen in place. “Sorry,” he muttered after a moment.
“Don’t be.” Lúcio bit his lip, dark eyes searching Genji’s face, then he said, “Here. I got this.” He pushed gently until Genji backed off, let himself be guided so that they’d switched places entirely, Lúcio now straddling his waist.
He leaned over Genji, mouth latching onto his again, then Lúcio’s hips slowly began to shift and roll against his. It was awkward at first, Genji suddenly self-conscious in a way he’d overcome before, but with Lúcio’s lips and hands and body on him, it would have been harder not to give in eventually. His hands seemed to move on their own, restless as they passed over Lúcio’s thighs and hips and waist, digging gently into warm, bare skin.
He let Lúcio lead and matched his rhythm. It didn’t take long for the pressure and heat to build. His hand paused on Lúcio’s thigh, fingertips brushing along his waistband. He broke the kiss long enough to ask, “Can I—”
Lúcio let out a quiet laugh against his mouth, then strong fingers closed around Genji’s wrist and shoved his hand inside Lúcio’s pants. Hint received, he wrapped fingers around Lúcio’s cock. At first he only touched tentatively, exploring the length and the incredibly soft skin, the fluid at the tip that smoothed the way for his careful pulls.
Then Lúcio made a quiet sound, breath shivering out of him, and Genji’s grip grew firmer, his wrist flexing as he worked Lúcio’s cock in his hand. The increasingly rhythmless movements of Lúcio’s hips sent heat skittering through Genji’s body, his own cock straining against his armor, and somehow still it was Lúcio’s shaky breathing that did the most to turn him on.
He focused in on the sound, on the humid puff of air against his cheek, on the way Lúcio’s lips trembled when Genji caught his mouth again. He made quiet sounds in the back of his throat that Genji heard at the same time as he felt them in his own mouth. He swallowed them down, lips clinging to Lúcio’s and tongue meeting his in indulgent sweeps.
When Lúcio’s kisses became unfocused too, Genji stroked a hand over his hair and held him closer, until Lúcio had to break it entirely. He buried his face in Genji’s neck as he came, the last movements of his hips a set of stuttering jerks before he stilled.
He breathed deeply, stomach twitching where Genji touched him now, and somehow those tiny muscle spasms were as attractive as anything else about him. Lúcio recovered enough to fumble a hand into Genji’s pants too. With equally clumsy fingers, Genji showed him how to unlatch enough of the armor to get at his cock.
The first touch had him biting down on a groan, then lunging forward to kiss Lúcio again. Focusing on anything other than the hand on his cock was almost too much to ask. The kiss was just this side of desperate, and it grew sloppier by the second.
When he came, it was sudden and forceful and left him winded like he’d been punched in the gut. He sank back onto the mattress, vents whirring as he breathed through it. He had to cover his face with one hand, suddenly sure he should hide from Lúcio’s gaze.
Lúcio rolled off him with a laugh, though he did not move far, and his fingertips played along Genji’s arm, a strange, barely-there pressure he almost couldn’t feel through the armor and synthetic skin.
It didn’t take long for Genji to catch his breath, not with his body forcibly regulating the process, but he even once his breathing had steadied, he was unsure how to proceed. Honestly hadn’t failed him so far, though. “I do not normally…”
“Yeah, kinda got that.” He could hear the smile in Lúcio’s voice even before he finally looked at him to confirm it. Lúcio was lying on his side, propped up on one elbow and watching Genji.
Genji swallowed thickly. “Was it—?”
“Bad? No no no,” Lúcio said in a rush. “You just don’t seem like the type. Unless ‘meditation’ is code for something, it’s not like you’re going anywhere to meet people either.”
He nodded as he processed that, then he fixed Lúcio with a very different sort of look. “Do you pay that much attention to all your colleagues?”
Lúcio smirked, but it grew softer even in the brief seconds before he spoke. “Not at all.”
There was heat in Genji’s cheeks again, but Lúcio looked a little self-conscious too. “Oh.”
“Yeah,” Lúcio answered.
“Cool.” He had to fight back the urge to wince, but he couldn’t resist the smile that followed on its heels.
Lúcio let out an amused sound, then he scooted closer on the bed. “I was hoping you’d think so.”
“I do. I like you. Very much.” He smiled again, then he reached for Lúcio and pulled him even closer.
“Cool.” Lúcio’s smile was wry before it burst open on a laugh. “So is that something we have to talk about now? Because I was really hoping to make out some more and then get some sleep and then maybe talk over breakfast.”
Genji really couldn’t argue with that. They followed Lúcio’s plan to a tee. By the time they joined back up with Overwatch, they’d made several other plans, beginning with a movie night in Lúcio’s room back in Gibraltar..
