Mega64 Movie Club: Blues Brothers

GET ON UP!! We've seen The Blues Brothers bit on a whole bunch of shows- singing and stuff on SNL, at Universal Studios, etc... but we never really laughed. Was it supposed to be funny? What IS the deal with the Blues Brothers, anyway? Let's finally investigate this and watch THE BLUES BROTHERS movie from 1980!

We're finally catching up on episodes of Movie Club since got a little sidetracked with last week's big stream- but our next episode coning up shortly will be THE SOCIAL NETWORK.

Comments

The Blues Brothers is one of my favorite movies of all time. I first saw it when I was 9 and the whole ending blew me away. It's one of the films that made me want to work in the industry. Glad you guys finally watched it.

Jake Songstad

So stoked you guys covered this movie and both enjoyed it so much. An all-time favorite for me, and it is the quintessential Illinois movie.

Bill Murphy

If I remember right from the DVD behind the scenes, all the cars in the parking lot at the mall were from a nearby dealership and they were told they could. Not. Under ANY circumstances! Scratch or dent those cars or they’d be in big trouble. So they went ham on the mall instead.

Mary and Steve

This was one of the first DVDs my family owned. My little brother watched it every weekend (sometimes multiple times) over the course of one summer. I vividly remember us using the frame-by-frame function during the “Shake a Tailfeather” sequence and cracking up at the kids dancing in slow-motion. The soundtrack was also road trip music for years. “She Caught the Katy” is quintessential car music lol (aside from the cameos, all of the Blues Brothers band members were huge musicians and will pop up more in Record Club)

Mary and Steve

That's rad. Rad dad.

My dad taped this off of TNT so that I could watch a censored version as a kid because he knew I loved cars, cars crashing, and Chicago since we grew up just outside the city. Wore through two versions of the soundtrack on tape.

Joe Tucci

This is one of my favorite movies, glad the guys liked it
