Patron Exclusive: Distorted Sines Sample Library
Added 2023-09-16 12:48:12 +0000 UTCIn my most recent video, I had fun generating distortion using a bunch of different devices that were not intended for that purpose. I tested each device by pumping a sine wave into it and seeing what waveform I got back. I was amazed at the richness of the samples I got back. In addition to a tape recorder, a mixer, and a phono preamp, I also tested a few actual distortion pedals (Pro Co RAT, Big Muff, and Boss XT-2 Xtortion).
In this sample library, I take those experiments one step further by creating an entire instrument out of each of those distorted sine waves. What you'll find is eighteen patches, two for each distortion source.

The controls are a bit unique: At any given time there are two layers: a lead layer and a "spice" layer which was produced by running the distorted signal through a variety of outboard effects gear. The distortion slider determines the sound of the lead layer by fading between a sine wave and distortion. The spice layer fades between the lead layer and the spice layer.
