Book 2 : The Masked Strength of the Sect's Trash Chapter 110

Lu Shaoqing removed two small wooden plugs from his ears and asked with a smile, “Finished scolding me already?”

Everyone was speechless. This guy really had no fear.

Sect Master Yu Chang looked like he was about to hit him. “You little brat, are you serious?”

“You did this on purpose, didn’t you? What kind of disciple are you?”

Yu Chang showered him with scoldings, spitting in frustration. Just when he’d thought Lu Shaoqing had made some progress, here he was, the same as ever. Lu Shaoqing scratched his ear nonchalantly, mumbling, “Not done yet?”

Xiao Yi was dumbfounded. No wonder the Sect Master always scolded her Second Brother; with behavior like this, it was hard not to. Meanwhile, Shao Cheng and Xiao Chuang looked unperturbed—they were used to this. Watching Yu Chang shout at Lu Shaoqing felt oddly comforting, as if things were finally back to normal.

After almost half an hour, Yu Chang finally ran out of steam. Even a Nascent Soul cultivator could only rant for so long. Lu Shaoqing asked innocently, “Are you done, Sect Master? Need a drink before you continue?”

Yu Chang clenched his fists, resisting the urge to punch him. “You insufferable brat!”

Lu Shaoqing took advantage of the pause to stand up and pat Yu Chang’s shoulder. “No need to get worked up over someone like me, Sect Master. It’s not worth it.”

Yu Chang eyed him warily. “What are you plotting?”

Lu Shaoqing feigned innocence. “I’m just looking out for you, Sect Master. What’s wrong with that?”

“Enough!” Yu Chang waved him off. “I know you well enough. If we weren’t on this ship, you’d have already run off like a rabbit.”

“Unfair,” Lu Shaoqing muttered. “I think about you all the time, Sect Master. It’s just that you’re always so busy.”

Yu Chang laughed coldly. “Sure, keep telling yourself that. See if I believe it.”

Shao Cheng intervened, “Shaoqing, are you in some kind of trouble? If the Sect Master can help, he’ll do it.”

Yu Chang’s face grew serious as he eyed Lu Shaoqing. “Come on, out with it. Whatever it is, I’ll support you.”

Lu Shaoqing grinned. “Oh, it’s nothing like that. I just wanted to know if the sect had any big plans in the works. You know… any interest in expanding our territory or perhaps… wiping out a rival sect?”

Xiao Yi’s eyes widened in realization. Her Second Brother was still fixated on his idea of destroying Dianxing Sect.

Yu Chang became cautious. “What exactly are you suggesting?”

“Nothing much,” Lu Shaoqing said, looking disappointed. “I was just curious.”

Shao Cheng scolded him, “You brat, are you insane?”

Yu Chang nodded in agreement. “We’re one of the three major sects of Qi Prefecture alongside Guiyuan Sect and Twin Moon Valley. We compete, but we also have alliances. If we start talking about eliminating one of them, it could cause significant unrest.”

Lu Shaoqing clicked his tongue. “Just means I’ll have to do things my own way then,” he muttered under his breath.

Shao Cheng saw the disappointment in his face and asked, “What’s going on?”

Lu Shaoqing put on his usual grin. “Oh, nothing. It’s just that with Eldest Brother now achieving the Sword Heart Enlightenment, he’s pulled so far ahead of everyone. I just figured our two rival sects wouldn’t be too happy about it and might gang up on us.”

Xiao Yi’s eyes sparkled. Could her Second Brother actually have some insight into sect matters?

Yu Chang looked at him thoughtfully. “For once, you actually make a good point.”

Shao Cheng added, “You don’t need to worry about these matters, Shaoqing. Let the Sect Master handle it.”

Lu Shaoqing merely nodded and leaned back, deep in thought. When they neared Lingxiao City, he suddenly perked up. “Master, Sect Master, Uncle Xiao—I think I’ll skip returning to the sect. I’d like to explore the city a bit.”

Xiao Yi jumped up. “Second Brother, I want to come with you!”

Xiao Chuang’s eyes narrowed, but Lu Shaoqing waved dismissively. “No, you stay here. Go write your training reflections.”

The mention of it made Xiao Yi deflate, sulking as she sat back down.

Meanwhile, Lu Shaoqing disappeared into the bustling streets below, grinning as he merged into the crowd, finally free for a moment.f
