A Change of Plan…
Added 2019-01-10 16:44:43 +0000 UTCHi Guys, as promised earlier in the week here’s a update on the videos that are coming up.
So on Tuesday I finished the first draft of the script for the first D-Day episode- I was pretty happy with it (if you’re a Captain you can take a look at it on here) but I felt more uncomfortable about putting the video up this weekend.
The reason for this is I want D-Day 1 (the buildup) and D-Day 2 (the invasion) to flow seamlessly into each other, as if they were one longer episode. With D-Day being such a complex event I still have a lot of research into the day itself to do, with 5 beaches, airborne operations and a huge naval operation all to look at. I essentially now think I can’t finish the first video in this series without a clear sense of what is going in the second, how I am designing the graphics for them both, and so on.
So, since I can’t get all the research I want to do done in the next fortnight (before D-Day 2’s release date), I’ve decided to push the entire project back, and begin it in the spring. Apologies if you are disappointed about this, but I want to make sure I get such an important events video right. It’s still absolutely going to happen, just slightly further down the road.
On the plus side, this actually means I can make more of the videos you guys voted for the other day.
Thank you all for taking part in the poll, and here's how I am going to move forwards with the results in mind:
A.S.A.P. – The 20th Century War That Never Was: Britain vs. The United States
This video will look at the naval rivalry between the UK and US in the 1920s and 30s, and explore the contingency plans that each nation made for war with each other. Research and first draft script completed.
Jan 26th (Approx) – The Battle of Taranto
This video will look at the Battle of Taranto, where a flight of Swordfish bombers effectively knocked the Italian fleet out of the war.
February: Lend Lease: Actually Very Important + A video on Plan Z/German Naval Strategy before WW2.
Two more videos from the poll which require a bit more research and so will arrive in February.
