Can we appreciate Alex's commitment to physical comedy for our entertainment? I couldn't have pulled off that hallway roll. When you said "Spaceballs 2: More Balls!", I lost it. This reaction was fantastic, and thank you for so much detail that you put into your sound effects.

2024-06-05 03:49:47 +0000 UTCSome background to some of the jokes: George Lucas was probably one of the only creatives in history to say that he wanted exclusive rights to merchandise and let the studio own large portions of everything else. Lucas envisioned making a fuckload of money from the products, and he was right. The studios had no idea what they were giving up. When Mel Brooks gave George Lucas a copy of the script, Lucas said it was "dangerously funny" and only asked two things from Brooks: (1) no Spaceballs merchandise should be sold and (2) he can't make his main character look like Luke Skywalker. Mel agreed to the terms, so he made the merchandising part of the running joke in the movie. And he modeled the main character after Han Solo instead of Luke Skywalker (lol).
