Dev Diary – July 2025
Added 2025-07-30 11:19:32 +0000 UTCI’m planning to post a monthly progress report here on Patreon, giving a quick overview of what I’ve been working on for my Baldur’s Gate mods over the past four weeks.

Next unannounced upcoming Mod
Finalized quests and dialogues for this soon-to-be announced new mod. Phew. That was a lot of work. I'm still not satisfied with some parts, so there's some more work to do before being able to release it.
Balanced enemy encounters to match different game difficulties
I have hand-drawn all item description images in Procreate so that they match those in BG2EE.

Designed a brand-new creature animation: a menacing being made of thorns and poisonous blossoms, created to bring a fresh and eerie enemy type into the game:

Finished the Zombie Treant animation:

Completed helper maps for the upcoming areas and finalized wallgroup definitions to hide the character sprites behind trees, leaves and the like. Instead of the usual wallgroups, I have now created a custom animation for some areas, such as the leaves of a tree, to make the characters really disappear behind individual leaves. This process is time-consuming and not advisable for everything, but in crucial areas it simply looks better than conventional wallgroups.

Silverrealms
Fully integrated the boss enemy animation – the boss is quite an eccentric creature: feathered, fierce, fiendish. You'll spot his ugly face in the trailer.
Enhanced many cutscenes and other scripted events
Expanded NPC dialogue reactions tied to the main questline, adding more depth and interaction throughout the mod.
Created a trailer to announce the mod in the forums, combining in-game sequences and newly rendered artwork that showcases the NPCs in action. The trailer will be released soon.

Lilly – the Halfling Druid
OK, this one was just for fun: Designed a custom icon for Lilly's owlbear transformation after an inspiring discussion in the Beamdog forums: https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/89558/owlbear-in-bg1ee. This small addition makes her ability set feel more personal and hopefully unique.

Lilly is a halfling druid of Sheela Peryroyl and a small NPC mod I'm working on when I can't see my other mods anymore.

What’s Next
I need to migrate all my modding data to a new Windows 11 PC in August. This is a major task: around 1 TB of files, including 400 GB of area data, needs to be moved and reorganized – this will take some time to complete. Once the migration is done, I want to finalize the upcoming mod I’ve been working on and take the time for thorough testing before its first release.
Thank you for reading this month’s update and for following the development of my mods! Your support and interest keep me motivated to push these projects forward. I’ll be back with another progress report once the big PC migration is complete and development continues at full speed.
