Dev Diary β August 2025
Added 2025-08-21 10:03:12 +0000 UTCWelcome to the August edition of my monthly modding progress report. This update highlights recent development work and ongoing ideas from the world of Baldurβs Gate II modding.
Because of the ongoing data transfer to my new PC, this Dev Diary comes a little earlier and shorter than usual.
Unannounced Upcoming Mod
This month, I focused on further expanding the mechanical depth of my next unannounced mod. A new mechanic has been implemented that allows players to part with certain items in a meaningful way. Without spoiling too much, this system may help resolve long-forgotten burdens β with surprising results.
Sometimes steel carries more than weight β it carries history, quarrels, and grief. In a quiet place off the beaten path, players may discover that letting go of such burdens can lead to unexpected rewards.
Alongside this, Iβve completed the boss enemyβs animation as well as scripting the final battle encounter, marking a major milestone for the project.
I also prepared several promo renders that highlight scenes from the upcoming mod. One of them β a mysterious tower hidden deep within an enchanted forest β Iβd like to share with you here.

Creature Work β Chasme Animation
Iβve completed a fully functional Chasme animation, based on the demonic, insect-like creatures known from D&D lore. This creature will play a role in the next mod, and will also appear in the next update of Call of the Lost Goddess. Its unsettling presence will add a distinct tone to encounters in both projects.

Whatβs Next
Iβve successfully completed the data transfer to my new Windows 11 PC β around 1 TB of files, including approximately 400 GB of area data, has been moved safely. Over the next three weeks, Iβll be setting everything up: reinstalling tools, configuring environments, and preparing the workspace for a smooth development experience.
Once this setup phase is done, I plan to finalize the new mod currently in development and begin internal testing to prepare it for eventual release.
Thank you for reading and for following my projects. The world of the Infinity Engine continues to evolve β and I look forward to sharing more as the path unfolds.
