2025-03-08 07:10:26 +0000 UTCI'm pretty sure that the "new mask" can be taken either as a metaphor for antidepressants, or a literal depiction of masking your symptoms. Which is probably why this episode focused on working at fast food, since it can be brutal on your mental health. Two interesting things about this episode is for some reason the characters completely forget they're on a fake adventure. They all clock out of work and go 'home' as if that's just part of their routine. And second, in the pilot Caine said "One of the few things I don't have control over in the circus is your minds". But then why did the stupid sauce affect Ragatha? And why did Gangle's new mask work? And is that related to why Ragatha saw Gangle with that mask when she hallucinated? Some other trivia: The Spudsy's is actually modeled very closely to the exact McDonalds that the creator Gooseworx actually worked at for a few years. But its branding is a mix of a few different places. At 3:35, Yup, Gangle's VA does a slightly different voice for each mask. She said that the comedy mask is kind of timid, the tragedy mask is almost crying, and the new mask is kinda anime. At 4:05, the tongue teleporting is another animator joke. Bubble doesn't have a tongue, so every time Bubble needs to lick something they just borrow it from Caine's model instead. At 6:23, Orbsman says "Hello I'm ready to order." "That's right it is me Orbsman. Here to order the classic #57 value meal." At 23:30, we see Gangle drawing manga style art. So we can assume that earlier in the episode when she did that employee training video, and she talked about giving up on your dreams to create a manga-inspired webcomic, she was talking about herself.
